Keg issues (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by rio8envy7
Does anyone have issues with kegs? I replaced one today and maybe 3 drinks later it was empty which makes absolutely no sense to me. My thoughts are either people aren’t making kegs right or something else is up. Anyone else have this issue?

One day I had a new barista make kegs and the next day we realized that they were only putting 5 liters of uncut cold brew in them, we were going through them twice as fast and over caffeinating the county at the same time!

It’s possible that if you have the older setup with the extra fridge and the button mechanism, it might have accidentally been run for a cleaning cycle and drained the keg that way. This has happened randomly to me before, or with partners who aren’t quite caught up with how the machine works and hold the button down for too long when replacing a keg. Our unit has nearly unexplainable issues almost daily though, so I don’t know how unique that random-cleaning-cycle problem might be

What do you mean extra fridge? We do have a button that turns blue around the rim after it’s replaced. This is entirely possible.

Sorry, not “extra fridge”, but the kind with the external nitrogenator and no control panel on the fridge itself but the blue button inside instead. It sounds like we probably have the same model in our stores. Hope you figure it out soon, cause we sure can’t! (Nitro line stopped working again today!)

Are they filling the kegs wrong. Did they add the right mount of colder brew and the right amount of water in the kegs. One keg usually lasts half the day in my store

Yes. They’re made correctly.

We have issues primarily with the compressor. We figured out it was someone changing them incorrectly. They were taking the liquid line off first, instead of taking off the gas line first, then they were putting the gas line on first rather than putting on the liquid line first. After correcting them, it’s worked like a charm.
