Former partner considering returning (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by amy_2014
Hi All, I was a partner for about 3.5 years (223 represent!), and I left in July 2019 after getting a job in IT. I’m learning that this field is not for me and I am strongly considering returning to my old Starbucks store for a while — to take a step back from the stressful work, potentially finish my degree, and regain a bit of sanity.

This job move would come with a significant pay cut for me, so to make sure I know what I’m getting myself into, I’m wondering... what are things like in COVID times?

Disclaimer: I know this may seem like a very loaded and open-ended question, but I’m mostly wondering about how Sbux as a company has treated y’all during this time, what measures they are taking (if any) to support partners through this, and what your experience has been with it.

Also curious as to what your favorite and least favorite drinks to make are!

Bonus points: anyone know what rate baristas start out at in the St. Louis, MO area these days?

Tbh. It feels like a hot mess this last month. We are out of everything. It’s a distribution problem in our area. COVID things have made returning easier in some ways and harder in others. Be prepared for minimum staffing, product outages, and grumpy customers who forget we are in the middle of a pandemic. If you can keep the idgaf it’s just coffee mindset you will be fine. Some days I regret returning. Like today...
