Okay so what’s the ACTUAL policy on baristas and supervisors being friends outside of work. Is it not allowed? At my store we’re banned from being friends. Is that an actual policy? If not, what is the actual policy itself?
I know that baristas and supervisors cannot be in a relationship for obvious reasons... but friends too?

i literally hangout with all of my coworkers 24/7 shift or not so if there is a rule umm u did not see this

Ive hung out with most of the staff at my store outside of work. In fact most of us including the SM went to a baristas wedding. I seriously doubt there is a real rule. No dating is all I know of.

The policy is that there should be no conflict of interest, and there should be no preferential treatment based on that relationship. For Barista and Supervisor this is usually just monitored by the store manager to remind the supervisor not to abuse that relationship, because the scale of the conflict of interest here is trivial. Managers aren't allowed to be in a relationship with someone they manage (supervisors aren't managers except in MA), and one of the two would have to transfer stores.

So be friends as long as you aren’t giving/getting special treatment at work

Exactly.

Whatever it is, it's BUNK! Policy or opinion forced.

Before covid baristas and supervisors at our store hung out often and did dinners together and things like that. I think you just can’t date or as a barista get special treatment for being friends with a supervisor

I’ve never heard of that rule in my life, I literally hang out with my coworkers outside of work and we text all the time. I think that’s a bit of a weird rule.

our entire store, save the SM, would hang out together and party, sometimes hook up too.
From what I remember, SM and ASM couldn't be in a relationship that could create a conflict of interest.
OP, this policy sounds at-best reactive to a previous problem your DM had, so they're taking the bluntest approach possible, at-worst it's possibly some anti-organizing policy unique to your district.
I'd try to get it in writing (don't question the logic, just ask for clarity and a copy of the policy/memo/email) but call partner relations either way. This is silly and counterproductive. I can't imagine a store functioning at its full potential without some camaraderie among the crew.
