I worked in PA and moved to FL and was able to transfer to a store there with ease. I connected with my manager about the transfer about 2/3 months in advance and they were able to handle finding places in the area I was moving to transfer. Sometimes managers will have you call around to look but in my experience they can help you with this! Just give them a good amount of time to prepare/to assist you as needed. My pay did change (it went up) but I was moving to a different state. Good luck!!

If the town/county/state you're moving to had a different minimum wage or starting pay than your current area, then yes, your pay will change.
For example: NYC minimum wage is $15/hr and RI starting pay is about $12. If you move from RI to NYC, your pay will go up. If you move from NYC to RI, your pay is likely to go down. I've seen a number of stories from people whose pay got cut pretty dramatically depending on where they moved from. If the new district has the same pay scale as your current one, then your pay will probably stay the same.
As for advice, call the store(s) you want to transfer to sooner rather than later. You want the manager to know about you and plan, otherwise you run the risk of them just hiring someone else. The more planning time you have, the better. When I transferred, I think I called the store I was going two two months before my move. Gave the information (store number, manager, contact info, dates, etc) to my SM and he handled everything else.
