I told my SM during my interview that I was looking to have full time hours between 35-40 a week and asked if that would be possible.. she told me that it would. I get about 25 hrs a week and have a second job now. I wish I was told it would be pretty much impossible to get more than 30hrs.

My SM does this. Tells people they will get as many hours as they want, but he doesn’t tell them they will only get this many if they pick up shifts or come to work every time someone calls out. Then they quit and he surprise pikachu face as if he didn’t realize people work for money and not fun

Yeah I do think SM’s love having people desperate for hours so when they ask you to stay late or come in on a day off they’re like “since you need more hours” or whatever 🙄 .. It’s just the nerve of literally lying to me and telling me they will schedule me more hours three times that I asked and then not doing it.. Like I lost out on 20hrs of work /week for like 3 months before I finally just got a second job. Oh and then at first told me she might not be able to approve my availability request when I got a second job LOL 💀

The only people who are considered full time at Starbucks are managers and ASMs. Shift supervisors and baristas are part time positions. 25 is about the average number of hours for baristas.

I mean you can always pick up shifts on your days off if you want but I don’t recommend it. As someone who’s done this it’s hard and takes a toll on you.

Really?? I average 30-35 hrs a week and I’m a barista. Might vary by store needs?

Anything under 40 is considered part time. Once you go over that it’s time and a half and they don’t want us doing that because then they have to offer us benefits that go along with that.

You could definitely get near close to 40hrs as a barista or a shift depending on your store or how generous your SM is lol. I have baristas who work 38hrs and I barely work 30hrs and I'm a shift~ feel free to ask around other stores for shifts! (Do ask your SM of that's ok first though), be careful not to overwork yourself!
