Tips? Are they just given or do I bring it up? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by coochieglock2000
Hey, so I’m fairly new and not sure how to go about getting my weekly tips. Usually someone just says hey *** want your tips for the week and I sign and get them. But a couple weeks ago there was a problem and there were no tips designated for me, no problem. I got them the next time I came in because one of my shifts reminded another shift (cause I kinda forgot). But these last two weeks I haven’t had anyone bring it up so I haven’t bothered asking because I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be the one to bring it up.
How are you supposed to properly bring it up without being annoying? I just keep forgetting

You’re responsible for remembering to get your tips. Just ask your shift if they can open the safe so you can get your tips. Also there should have been tips for you the week there was a problem. Unless you don’t work one week you get tips every week and it kind of is a problem. I know mistakes and shit happens but it’s money you’re entitled to. Next time just say “hey I noticed that I didn’t get any tips this week do you think you can help me or do you know what happened?”

Isn’t it great how they don’t even tell us? I’ve been working since Jan 5 and picked up my cash tips for the first time in late Feb! Because I didn’t know. And I haven’t since. No one has time for that!

Just the digital tips. We still get cash tips

Only digital tips are on your checks. Cash tips are still distributed weekly, and don't forgot that you're supposed to record them for taxes now.

What we have to record our tips now???

Yup it was in the update about tips. Ask your SM or SSVs, they should have more info on what you need to do.

I swear I’m never informed about anything at my store but thanks! I’ll ask tomorrow, I don’t wanna get in trouble.
