Call in ASAP, the main thing is giving enough notice for them to find coverage. Text coworkers if you can ask them to cover. Take care of yourself first but understand especially with less than 24 hr’s notice your supervisor may be peeved at having to find coverage last minute, especially if you’re a closer. Call the store and ask to speak to the shift currently working to let them know.

I’m really sorry for your loss; that’s really heartbreaking

I lost my dog last year and have have lost multiple pets in the past so I understand how you’re feeling. I’m really sorry for your loss.

Just call in as soon as you can and say you’re not feeling well and that you’re not coming in. Plain and simple. No explanation needed.

I really hope you feel better.

I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my cat in October and I went to work the next day because no one would cover my shift. If you absolutely have to work, I recommend trying to stay busy, don’t let your mind wander, and hopefully it’ll help. I don’t know if you’ve lost a pet before, but it does get better. grief very much comes in multiple waves and doesn’t ever completely go away, but it gets easier to live with. ❤️

Sorry for your lose.
Your first step, if you’re a decent person, Is to try to get your shift covered. If you don’t have anyone’s phone number, call the store and ask the numbers.
If that doesn’t work, call and let them know ASAP you can’t come in.
That’s all there is to it.
I doubt you’ll get a write up if those is your first time calling out.
Make it into a habit and you’ll lose your job.
I hope you feel better!
