Random girl mobile ordered a venti iced americano with caramel drizzle, light ice, and light water. I filled up the cup halfway because I honestly didn’t know what else to give her and she was soo rude to me LOL. any tips on how to handle situations where the customer doesn’t know what they’re ordering? I kept my cool but I was not super nice to this girl and I wanna know how I could be less rude when trying to explain these things in the future

If it's slow enough (which is to say, not peak) I'll take the sticker, write "ask a barista", and stick it at the mobile handoff. Then when she comes in we can ask and confirm what she wants and we dont waste time or effort making something she doesnt want. Note:ONLY works when you're not snowed in by mobiles.

I always say, “ hey I just wanna clarify these things before I start making it! “ and then try your hardest to explain. keeping a cool head is an important skill. I always force a fake smile because the smile makes you sound nicer basically! Hope this helps :)

will do! thank you for the advice :) I’m a 296 3 months in and still working on the customer service persona

The persona is probably the hardest part of the job in my opinion! My manager give me the fake smile advice and I’ve kept using it. Sometimes you just gotta imagine your customer is a three old, kinda act like it too 😉

Just explain make sure she knows when she’s ordering it won’t be filled all the way
