When a customer coughs in the speaker box and asks for a venti medicine ball (i.redd.it)

I had a lady order one, get to the window without a mask, cough, then ask “do these work?”.... nope nope nope
rio8envy7 30 points 2y ago
We’ve been telling people they’re not allowed to call them that.
Silly_Goose2 37 points 2y ago
Health Canada and the Canada Food Inspection Agency (FDA and USDA (?) in the states) do not take kindly to false medicinal claims. It wouldn't surprise me that even just not correcting customers could lead to legal trouble, should they choose to enforce it.
astivana 36 points 2y ago
I only call it the honey citrus mint tea. And if people ask “is that the medicine ball?” I’m just like “some people call it that yes :|”
Silly_Goose2 16 points 2y ago
Same, and I append "however it is a misnomer because the beverage does not contain any medicinal ingredients and does not have any medicinal effects, nor do we make any claim it does."
rio8envy7 22 points 2y ago
Its not even a FDA or USDA thing it’s that there isn’t medicine in it and Starbucks can’t be liable for false claims. It’s a Honey Citrus Mint Tea. This whole medicine ball thing started as a secret menu thing that grew so popular that Starbucks made it a permanent drink. People know it as medicine ball. We just have to correct them.
Silly_Goose2 3 points 2y ago
Oh for sure, but at least in Canada the regulations that say you can't make false claims about medicine are administered by the CFIA, and that's who they'd be liable to.
rio8envy7 2 points 2y ago
That’s probably true here with the FDA. I believe USDA mostly deals with food.

Whats in the medicine ball?
linipanini 84 points 2y ago
Tea combo of mint and citrus, pumps of honey blend, then half hot water, half steamed lemonade. We’re not supposed to call it that because it implies medical advice when that’s obviously not it 😂
TemplarSensei7 11 points 2y ago
Back in my day, it was a secret menu, and we used Jade citrus, which tasted better too.
blkjoey 49 points 2y ago
we still do. it’s jade citrus and peach tranquility
sandycat555 7 points 2y ago
Back in my day we had to squeeze honey packets. Boy that slowed down the workflow. The pump was so much faster, finally.
linipanini 2 points 2y ago
Yeah, sorry those are the technical names for the teas, I always forget what they are 🤦🏽‍♀️
TemplarSensei7 1 points 2y ago
Oh? Wasn’t there the actual Mint and Citrus tea though, but it was an herbal tea instead of the green tea?
bunbunprincess98 2 points 2y ago
...it gets honey???
elote69-420 1 points 2y ago
Aren’t there pumps of peppermint as well?
heygirlhowyoubean 8 points 2y ago
No, there are no pumps of peppermint. You’d have to ask for some if you want it in the drink :)
elote69-420 21 points 2y ago
Oh no yet another drink I’ve been making wrong😂
LavanderSkies0930 4 points 2y ago
The old recipe had peppermint and then they changed it
hailvy 3 points 2y ago
The mint comes from the jade citrus mint!
elote69-420 1 points 2y ago
Ah yes that does makes sense now
colonade17 6 points 2y ago
There's no medicine in the "medicine ball" just green tea, peach tea, lemonade and honey. Don't expect it to heal you in any way.
cfeinguy 3 points 2y ago
It's delicious!
Leeharp92 25 points 2y ago
My old store was located in the same building as an urgent care. I feel this very deeply 😂
MK2730 9 points 2y ago
Literally had this exact thought in this exact situation today 😂
sleepyteaa 4 points 2y ago
Almost as great as the woman who had me make her caramel frap extra caramel over twice because it “had no flavor”..... I put like 13 pumps of caramel before she said “whatever I’ll just take it” like HOW does that not scare you?! 😳
mermaid831 1 points 2y ago
Lady definitely had covid.
sleepyteaa 1 points 2y ago
Oh for sure. Everyday I’m so glad I’m vaccinated already.
