If someone takes your shift and then suddenly can't work it anymore, is it their responsibility to get it covered? (self.starbucksbaristas)

THIS IS THAT SHIT. I hate when managers try this shit. it is the responsibility of the barista that took it. I mean, technically, after a barista picks up that shift, it’s their shift now. so.

They fed us all this bullshit that people in the district want hours. Bullshit.

it’s so stupid because now you can call out and it’d be their fault.

No one else can take my shift now, and i'm just fucking livid.

YUP. you are in no way responsible for that shift any longer.

Ugh I had someone do this to me, but it wasn’t even that I asked them to take my shift. One of my coworkers asked if I would want to give up a shift (I think they all pretty much know I don’t really need all my hours because this is my second job). I agreed then that morning (it was an opening shift) I got a text asking if I could come in because the person who took my shift called out. Luckily no one was actually mad at me or expecting me to come in (I got the text well after the shift would have started), but still irritating.

yes!! as an SSV, i always tell my partners-the second someone agrees to take a shift, write it in on the big schedule and the DCR for that day at the least! swap it in partner hours if your store is big on that. there is nothing worse than someone taking your shift, not showing up and letting you take the fall. put it in writing and you should be good!!

had this happen and the person who’d cover me didn’t show up :/ this was before teamwork’s had an option to switch shifts in the system but i texted my manager at the time to confirm with her after i had confirmed with the partner who took my shift

still woke up to about 8 missed calls because my name was still on the DCR as an opener ... so that wasn’t super fun but my manager did say that it was the partners responsibility and not mine cus i did confirm

This is old but I'm dealing with this situation right now smh. My manager called me & made up a rule that we were "supposed to let management know" whenever we post shifts. And implied that I'm getting written up when I come in for my next shift. That's bs & against our best interests because what if the manager says you need to come in anyway?? Really don't understand how it's my fault when the person who made the conscious decision to take my shift didn't show!!

if the person doesn’t show up it should be a write up

I had someone no call no show into coverage for my shift and I was out of town. I felt so terrible and they told me it was not my fault and that it was okay. I even verified with the girl multiple times to make sure she could still work it..
