Ok so I am based in target. A store manager is telling us to put the tea in water and set it in the fridge all nights. So this tea is only good for 12 hours? He says when we brew it with hot water and add ice we ate watering it down but it’s even worse when we “cold brew” it.

That is so bizarre... I don't think you need to work here to know that's not* right. I've always done 1L hot water and let the tea bag steep for 5 mins. Remove and drain excess tea. Add a venti scoop of ice and fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water. It gets used soon after so no overnight shenanigans. Hope this helps, but I'm sure it's not you who needs to see this lol

this manager is really going to flip their lid when they find out about the water step in the shaken iced tea recipes, lmao.

Hi! Also target based, I was always taught to brew the tea bags in 1 liter of hot water for five minutes then add a venti scoop of ice and then cold water to the 2 liter line. And yes the teas only last 12 hours, they should be made fresh every morning

To brew: one litre hot water, tea bag, steep five minutes, remove bag, one venti scoop of ice, fill with cold water to 2 litre line
To store: room temp on the tea shelf, good for 12 hours
*Cold brewing tea is a thing that can be done, but it is NOT how starbucks does it*

I was corporate for three years and am now at target. The directions are either in the beverage resource manual or the tea and coffee book (I forget the actual title of that one), and it's probably on workbench too. But yeah either way your manager is extremely wrong if they're telling you to cold brew the tea

Starbucks team lead here! There is a brewed tea routine you can find on workbench, if you want something written down and Starbucks standard.

they did just change standards for brew time during spring launch - black and herbal teas are steeped 5 minutes, green and white teas are only 3. i think it applies to our regular iced teas, as well as custom iced tea lattes for those special customers.

Put tea bag in pitcher first, then add hot water to the 1L line. Steep for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bag. Add a venti scoop of ice and then cold water to the 2L line.
