The sanitzer cracked my hands so badddd. I had to buy a thing of working hands to keep in the back for the team since we're all poc haha no ashy hands on MY watch

I have eczema so my skin is already dry, the sani and frequent washing just makes my hands split and bleed :(

My hands looks like that too all the time. One tip I found to make it slightly less painful is to wear rubber gloves while doing the dishes or using any of the cleaners. Your hands will thank you.

same! truly has done wonders.

Ah yes the Starbucks right of passage. For real though it sucks and I'm sorry. It ripped me a new one especially in the winter when I was at the Bux, working hands also worked well for me. Can't help but shutter thinking of all you beans working with the Sani during a time where hand washing alone tares your flesh off. Hope you can find something to sooth your skin <3

I keep a travel size of a Bath & Body Works' unscented hand lotion in my apron now! I CANNOT deal with the cracking. It sometimes gets to the point that it's painful. I keep hand cream in my purse, at least 2 different ones in my car, an insane amount at my apartment, and one in my apron. Days off, I usually moisturize my hands at least once an hour to compensate for days I have work. I keep Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve at my apartment and O'Keeffe's Working Hands in my car. The rest are Bath & Body Works. Plus moisturizing body wash.
I'm only 22 but I swear this job... Between the cracked and wrinkled skin on my hands and the bags under my eyes from 4 am opening shifts, I look older. :/

I used to buy the nice fitted dish gloves from the grocery store, slather lotion on and do drains/sinks/ ice bins gloves up as a “beauty treatment” Another partner bought his one black nitrile gloves and wore them his whole shift with hand cream on inside. Worth the effort/ money.

Get some fitted rubber gloves! It's so much better. I keep them in my bag 🤣 I don't mind doing dishes now

Someone started bringing in lotion and I’m so grateful. My hand has literally bled before I swear
ShannyES2 points2y ago
Correct me if I’m wrong.... but I was told your SM can order lotion on the order. We get some in and while it’s not the best it’s better than nothing until you can get home to use something better.
yuribuny2 points2y ago
we take turns buying a big store hand lotion lol
fya_nya2 points2y ago
I once handed out cash to a customer and saw how ashy my hands were. I was so embarrassed lol, now keep a little bottle of lotion in my apron at all times.
GRXPEBXPE2 points2y ago
I have a Shift that brings lotion, like few bottles for the store, could be a good idea for you to help other partners with the same issue by just buying on bottle and keeping it in the back

😭😭 today was my first day and I had to ask my friend for lotion cause i was not gonna take people’s money with my hands being all cracked and dry.

We should have partner hand lotion for us!
TherudestLiz1 points2y ago
I keep lotion in my apron. I bought a tiny travel size of it and refill it all the time. It’s unscented and my skin is so dry I have to use it always, not just after washing dishes lol
deeciphered1 points2y ago
I used to close every shift 5/6 days a week and we had no gloves for dishes so my hands got so dry they’d constantly crack and bleed
emielisch1 points2y ago
My eczema on my hands has flared up since the pandemic, cracking and bleeding...the only thing that’s worked for me is applying lotion (and sometimes my eczema medicine) to my hands and then putting on the vinyl gloves that Starbucks provides and wearing those for like an hour at a time. I also NEVER touch the sanitizer rags with my bare hands anymore.
Gloves are your friend, don’t be afraid to lotion up and use them! My hands look and feel amazing afterwards!
