it is definitely hard. ive been a partner for almost five years and a supervisor for three and im just finishing up my second year of uni. i found myself being extremely tired a lot of the time. i also have a pretty bad depressive disorder tho so that definitely has a big influence on my energy levels. if you can take a reduced courseload (3-4 classes) and only work about 30 hours a week it is definitely doable. make sure you still commit enough time to your studies outside of class tho, its easy to start letting things slip pretty quick if you arent careful

Yeah, I would say if you are going to do school and promote to SSV, definitely lay the groundwork for your SM on when you’re available and the maximum hours you’re able to work. I went in saying I was very flexible and it ended up with me working 40-50 hours at an understaffed new store and struggling to keep up with school. Just recently have started pushing for less hours and it’s near impossible with current staffing.

Yeah this. Starbucks will work you to the bone if you say you're in any way, shape, or form flexible. Boundaries need to be set so that adequate staffing is hired and it's not expected that 1 person will do the work of 3 and work insane hours.

Me! I usually do around 20-25 a week, but I also add internships on top of that at times. It's incredibly important to stay organized and be able to focus on job stuff at the job and school and other things outside of the job. You've gotta have boundries, but be sure to do ur best on your shift. That helps me from being overwhelmed.

This is something i just went through in the past few weeks. I was having such a hard time balancing the two. Working 40 hours a week and being a full time student was draining mentally and physically. I spent a lot of nights off just crying and was so stressed out. I finally went to my manager with a very detailed plan of my hours i was available and days i was available. I sent boundaries for myself and that really helped me a lot. I would say go for it as long as you’re able to set those boundaries for yourself. Otherwise you will definitely drown in the workload if you’re like me. Good luck to you!!

I’ve been a supervisor for about 4 years now and a full time student on/off. It’s definitely a challenge but if you’re confident with your time management you’ll survive. That being said, I always request to lower my hours to 30-32 hours/week during the semester. I would say to be very clear and schedule your classes so you’re able to work certain days (ask your manager about what days you’re needed and which you aren’t) and able to take at least one day off and dedicate it to completing your school work.

So I've been a partner for alil over a year and a shift for 3 months or so. Yes it can definitely be a struggle. The biggest thing is keeping you priorities straight. Something I fail at is make time for school whether it's before or after work. Don't let yourself get too behind. Overall it's a rewarding experience especially when you start kicking butt at school and work. Definitely communicate with your Sm as far as you goals and hours. You got this!

It’s pretty hard. Definitely make sure your communicating with your sm to get the hours you need. I made the mistake of working way too much initially and it was hard. I still struggle because I can’t seem to say no to being called In lol
