Hopefully this isn’t too confusing, so my friend is a shift supervisor and she’s a great shift! She was asked to step down because she wasn’t hitting the required hours a week to qualify as a shift. (Mind you she has 3 kids) unfortunately that means she would also have her pay dropped to barista pay. She brought up to our SM that there is a former shift supervisor (who is also my friend) that has been bragging to others that they got demoted but got to keep their pay and that they actually make more than all the other current shifts. so why couldn’t she keep her pay? Our SM responded with that it was under “special circumstances” that they got to keep their pay given by our former DM. We have a new DM and I’m not sure if they’re aware of this. Should I bring it up to my SM that I also think this is unfair or should I go to the DM? Should I just leave it alone? Idk it’s bothering me. It just seems so unfair. What would you do in this situation? Thank you in advance for any advice or information ❤️

go to the new DM , because it’s not fair and that partner is actively throwing it in others faces . just make sure you keep hush hush about it so you’re not thrown daggers later . best of luck <3

I think I’ll do it, and yes definitely going to keep it hushed 😅

I would definitely bring it up to the DM nobody should be getting paid more bc of special circumstances between them and the former DM thats corrupt

Definitely go to your DM and let them know what's up. Make sure to ask that your name be kept out of future talks regarding this matter and that you just want to make sure your SS is given the same pay whether she ends up stepping down or not because she's a hard worker and deserves it. Not to mention that once you know the work of a SS it's incredibly hard to just turn that off and go back to barista when you know there's things that need to get done. It's likely that even if/when she steps down she will still be doing at least some of the shift work. Plus the fact that the other former SS is bragging about her pay like that? It's not fair or appropriate. That's something that she should be keeping to herself. Not bringing it up whenever she wants to one up another barista.

thank you for advice! I would’ve forgotten to ask for my name to be kept out of future talks

I think all of us SSVs would love to know what those special circumstances are
