I'm a disabled barista. I've been having some health issues related to my disabilities recently and my manager keeps getting pissed. Do I like calling in? Absolutely not. I need the money, badly. But by God don't tell me that I've used the same "excuse" the past couple times. Neither of us have the time or energy for me to go into detail with what's wrong. I told her when she fucking hired me that I was disabled. I try to act "normal" for her and I'm a good worker but I am not an abled body person. I'm DISabled.

I would bring this up to the DM, and if that doesn’t work, bring it up with whatever work health or disability compliance organization exists in your country

First I would tell your DM. If it’s needed I would request an accommodation through Starbucks. Just do you have that in your back pocket if for some reason your manager still gives you a hard time. If that is the case I would call prc and possibly report them to ethics and compliance. I would only do this if it continues and your DM does nothing or gives you a hard time as well.

Speaking as another disabled barista, even having your back covered means they'll retaliate (in ways they cna get away with).
I've had hours cut for when I can work, people treating me like I can't do certain roles, SM argue that I'm not "consistent" when asking for more hours or longer shifts.
They shouldn't be able to, but they can.

i’m tired of being yelled at for occasionally having difficulties engaging customers at the window when i’m DTR as if they don’t know i am mentally handicapped and my social skills are pretty good considering they are directly affected by my disability
