I walked out, can I still apply to another store? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by RichRaven1
I realize this probably sounds like a dumb question, given that I walked out of the store and quit mid shift. But I honestly loved working at Starbucks and I would really love to remain a partner, just not at the store I quit from/not under the manager I was under. Would quitting/walking out blacklist me from working at Starbucks again? People have walked out at my store before and gotten hired back not even a week later, which is why I’m wondering. Any advice or anything would be much appreciated!

From the sounds of it they might file you as a DNH(DO NOT HIRE) or DNR (DO NOT REHIRE)
Quitting like that and leaving in the middle of the shift is taken as inconsiderate so depending on your manager they may or may not put you as a do not rehire. If people have done it before you might be fine. I’ve never heard of that though. Usually if you walk off the job you are not allowed to work there again.

That’s fair. It’s too bad, I really loved my job but the last couple months have been absolute hell from understaffing/being mistreated by the morning crew/etc and my health just couldn’t withstand the stress anymore. Everyone else on the night crew is fed up and on the verge of quitting, so maybe we can leverage that to get better treatment/ me my job back? Oh well. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.

You could always just speak to your manager about it! Some times they’re understanding about circumstances.
I’m a rehire myself and I came from a very toxic first store. It helps a lot when you voice your opinion and you tell your boss exactly what can help you. Maybe even discuss a transfer?

I’ll give that a shot, thank you so much :)

I’d talk to your dm and explain. Usually in cases like this an investigation on the store and management would start. I wouldn’t say that your immediately fired or that it would even constitute as you quiting automatically. If it was that bad that you felt the need to remove yourself from the situation I’d even call partner contact center to see what could be done at a higher level. I personally didn’t walk out but my manager at the time was being very creepy with me and they got me and my friend immediate transfers to the store we are at now. They couldn’t fire that manager immediately because an investigation did have to take place but... he did eventually get fired. I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Got it. I’m going to give PCC a call right now. What sucks is that the DM is more than likely part of the issue, as my store just does not get a big enough budget for adequate labor, and my SM is just using all of it on the morning crew. I appreciate your help.

Best of luck to you partner! Once a partner always a partner! I’d like to know how this actually turns out if you get a chance to keep us updated on what happens in case it comes up with anyone else again.

Will do! Got ahold of PCC and the lady said I’m still eligible to be rehired, so it’s looking good :)
