Does anyone else have drink recipes you've created that you will never tell a soul to save other baristas from having to attempt to make it? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have a few. Some without names and a couple that I call mango milkshake, spiced frozen lemonade, and the Falltimate Spice.

Usually I only make these drinks for partners to try my creations, but I have made them for a few customers before. However when I have made them for customers, I do not put the sticker on the cup to avoid them trying to order it when I'm not there or at another store. I'm the only one who knows the proper ratios to have the drink end up that way and I don't want another barista to have to guess and have it not turn out the way the customer was hoping for. Or some of them are a bit complicated and trying to make one while the store is busy would be stressful for the barista.

And while I would love to share my creations with you all, I still can't trust you to not let it slip and risk it ending up on tiktoc causing them getting ordered every other drink at stores across the world. I'm not putting that evil out there XD

You know what, the Falltimate Spice isn't very complicated so I'll give you that one. Its split pumps of chai and pumpkin spice, ground cinnamon steamed into apple juice to 160 (no kids temp here), top with whip, carmel drizzle and dolce topping. Most people are very turned off by the idea of pumpkin sauce in apple juice so I don't expect this to catch on lol, but try it out once fall flavors come back!
croissantboyy 96 points 2y ago
i have a friend who makes an "apple pie chai" which is a steamed apple juice with chai and 1-2 pumps cinnamons dolce its super yummy!!
TheDoubleDan [OP] 67 points 2y ago
You know what's crazy? If you mix passion tea, very berry hibiscus, and pumps of dolce syrup, it tastes like apple pie without having anything apple flavored in it.
pittiepie 20 points 2y ago
I’m pretty sure that the refresher juices all actually have some apple juice in it, if you check the label for the ingredients. I might be wrong though, so don’t take my word for it 😂
amalia13lightning 18 points 2y ago
i believe it's white grape, but the passion tea has apple
pittiepie 3 points 2y ago
Ooo I think you might be right. I just remember seeing that the refreshers all had the same juice in their ingredient list
hmmyeahrightokaythen 2 points 2y ago
White grape juice concentrate ftw 🤘 but they also add 'natural flavor' which could be anything?? lol
always_hungryy 1 points 2y ago
I believe the passion tea has apple flavor. But my favorite fact about the refreshers and some juices is that they are all just grape juice with different flavors
sammieduck69420 13 points 2y ago
sounds weird but delicious
croissantboyy 3 points 2y ago
that's so crazy
longhair-care2much 1 points 2y ago
Passion tea has apple in the blend.
G37_is_numberletter 1 points 2y ago
Sounds like an appleless Apple pie recipe I found in my wife’s grandma’s confederate cookbook x_x
throwaway44624 2 points 2y ago
This actually used to be on the menu or officially recognized by Starbucks (TM) in some form. I believe a steamed apple juice with chai pumps was called a Chapple.
croissantboyy 1 points 2y ago
!! damn how long ago was that?
throwaway44624 2 points 2y ago
Eons! Distant childhood memory at this point
LycaenopsPictus 63 points 2y ago
Starbucks soft serve. Blend 100 ml (ish) heavy cream in the cold foam blender with a packet of salt, a scoop of vanilla powder, and 4 scoops/ pumps/ glugs/ whatever of whatever flavor you're going for (I like chocolate, matcha, and strawberry) on 4. Pour into the frap blender. Add 2/3 the ice you'd normally use for a Frappuccino of the same size, and creme base, blend twice, adjust to taste.

Back with the other shift we used to start brewing earl grey at the start of the close and made a london fog frap this way using heavy cream and vanilla bean powder.
TheDoubleDan [OP] 22 points 2y ago
Omg I'm pretty sure we'd immediately deny a London Fog frap order to a customer, but now I'm totally going to make one next time I'm in. That sound fire af
LycaenopsPictus 10 points 2y ago
Oh yeah I'm barely willing to make an iced london fog through drivethru (Our drivethru times....) , but these are fantastic if you have the time.
ea374616 5 points 2y ago
I have tried so many ways before when we did not have the foam pitchers. Doing this tonight in honor of a partner's last shift at the store!!
OneRoseDark 1 points 2y ago
Doodeedoo, just gonna save this to try at close tonight...
LycaenopsPictus 3 points 2y ago
The salt is essential for the london fog frap. The vanilla, you need less of than you'd imagine.
Tell me how it goes!
roustaboutsrevenge 36 points 2y ago
I just about have an aneurysm every time I catch a partner suggesting customers do anything at all the customize frappuccinos, but on the rare occasion I want something sweet, I make a cafe vanilla with espresso instead of frap roast, heavy cream, double blended no whip lol. I would never order it at another store but it's like coffee ice cream.
TheDoubleDan [OP] 14 points 2y ago
Eh I personally think that drink isn't too different from the standard recipe and you'd be fine ordering it at any store. But some of my stuff is wildly different from any standard recipe and other baristas would just be taking a shot in the dark on how to make it.

But also if you're already subbing out the frap roast, why not order it as a vanilla bean creme with a double? That might make it less confusing in avoiding the "wait they don't want frap roast?" Unless you think the coffee base vs. cream base makes enough of a difference that is.
roustaboutsrevenge 2 points 2y ago
I never really go on my days off, but that's definitely another way to order it. The coffee base is slightly different from the creme base. The way our bars are set up and the chaos during peak definitely makes pulling a shot for a frapp more than a little inconvenient... but I just hate making frapps in general so I am biased.
frenchfrygirll 8 points 2y ago
I have customers order a vanilla bean with espresso all the time. Pulling a shot for a frapp can be a slight inconvenience, but it's not bad at all. And heavy cream is right next to our whole milk so I don't care if somebody orders that instead. Your customized drink is wayyyy on the bottom of inconvenient custom frappucinos.
roustaboutsrevenge 2 points 2y ago
Haha I am biased against frapps, when they made Carmel ribbon and mccf permanent menu items I was irate, so its just something I treat myself with after a shift sometimes.
frenchfrygirll 2 points 2y ago
I mean, I hate frapps as much as the next person, but I abhor refreshers and other shaken drink, so go ahead and order your drink and I won't judge you :)
WinkingCats 1 points 2y ago
Yes 🙌🏻 I used to make a similar thing, grande size just one scoop VB plus 1/2 pump TN and 1/2 pump WM, sub one shot espresso and sub HC
roustaboutsrevenge 1 points 2y ago
Sounds dankety, I might try that.
bryceofswadia 17 points 2y ago
Baristas who spill the most complicated recipes they can imagine on TikTok and Instagram are the literal worst.
TheDoubleDan [OP] 12 points 2y ago
"Do you guys know how to make the bumbly womptious freekydeeky frappuccino? I saw it on tictok."

Fr, go chase clout in a way that doesn't fuck over literally thousands of your peers.
bryceofswadia 1 points 2y ago
Some woman ordered a “Cookie Monster” and asked annoyed/surprised when I had no idea what tf she was talking about.
randomoniumish 1 points 2y ago
I guarantee Starbucks is paying some of those “influencers” under the table to do this too.
xxxquadbilatte 5 points 2y ago
Honestly that’s were I am confused because when I was hired 3 years ago an older barista who worked with the company on & off for 10 years let me know very early to never post in your green apron/starbucks type content. She had seen so many people fired in the Vine era & liked to warn others. I see SO many baristas on Tiktok & wonder how they can get away w posting behind the bar. I think surely they see the profits from these expensive drinks and want it to continue, but yet in calls our corporate has said they don’t want to give extra labor because of it.
technicolourjpg 14 points 2y ago
got really fucking bored one day and basically made an oreo mcflurry i’ve been craving all day as an oreo frap with heavy cream instead of milk, extra pumps of white mocha, and cookie crumble topping instead of frap chips. definitely not super thicc mcflurry ice cream consistency but the taste was good enough

i tend to get my cinderella drink in the fall (split white mocha and pumpkin) with cinnamon steamed into the milk but that’s pretty common so i generally recommend this to customers if they’re looking for something a bit different

my go to hot chocolate tho is a b&w hot chocolate with vsc cold foam + irish cream blended in (instead of whip). amazing in a white mocha too, the wm + irish cream combo is insanely good

and bootleg starbucks milk tea of course: 3/4 black tea, 1/4 heavy cream or oat for non dairy, brown sugar syrup (i do like an extra pump)

last but not least, gotta thank my coworker for this one, strawberry creamsicle drink: strawberry açai a little past the tea line on the shaker, lemonade to the infusion, vsc a little past the water/juice, no inclusion, vanilla bean powder, and i usually do half ice and the rest water to make it less sweet. the lemonade + vsc made me hesitant at first but if u shake it really well it doenst separate weirdly like coconut bev or anything. so fucking good and it really does taste like a strawberry creamsicle
shouldvewroteitdown 10 points 2y ago
My drink is impossible now, but back in my day i would make the chocolate banana smoothie with uncut cold brew instead of milk, and extra protein.

Was an excellent meal replacement when you had to choose between rent and groceries 😭
TheDoubleDan [OP] 7 points 2y ago
Omgosh I forgot about protien powder. And those weird almond butter protien blended cold brews. I thought they were so good!
shouldvewroteitdown 3 points 2y ago
I left before those launched, and those had a different powder! The OG wasn’t vegan
TheDoubleDan [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Yeah I was around for the OG powder too. Just completely forgot they both existed haha! And I wasn't a big fan of the OG. I felt like it always gave the drink a weird texture.
shouldvewroteitdown 1 points 2y ago
I think i blocked that part out, or the cold brew thinned it out so it wasn’t such an issue 😅
Fozzybean 1 points 2y ago
As a newer partner I was wondering about the protein powder as it’s mentioned in the barista basics training still.
incubussy 7 points 2y ago
nice try, starbucks tik tok
laurpast 7 points 2y ago
i get an iced oat milk chai with vanilla bean powder and brown sugar shaken and then over ice with a blonde shot 🤤
TheDoubleDan [OP] 3 points 2y ago
Similar to the ol coconut vanilla bean latte. That's still my go-to "relaxation" drink with blonde espresso. Personally not a big fan of the oat milk though. I prefer almond or coconut.
rednick953 5 points 2y ago
Me and my opening shift came up with what we called the Saint Nick around Christmas time. It was like 5 years ago so I don’t remember what it was detailed just ice coffee with whole milk and a few different pumps of different syrups. It was our thing we had every morning that we shared with one customer. Stuff like that was what I loved about working Starbucks.
official_koda_ 4 points 2y ago
It irritates me seeing all these licensed store baristas in slow stores with all the time in the world creating these stupid drinks, only for busy drive thru stores to face the consequences
SkylerSayys 4 points 2y ago
I make a peaches and cream drink on the regular in the summer (i just never want it in the winter). Its my favorite of my creations. I also make frappes every morning- I have a partner give me a theme and then i make it for our openers. The best one I’ve done in my opinion is my tiramisu one
Kaywin 3 points 2y ago
Yes. My favorite involves a Keto substitute for cold foam.

I have proactively made my drink when I’m on breaks to spare other baristas the annoyance, since there’s not a way to write it up/print it on a label effectively either. Also f*ck cold foam in general.
ladyelenawf 3 points 2y ago
At least you're not using $1 recipe?
MetaNightmare 3 points 2y ago
I have a recipie that I call the Double Anarchy (which is a Borderlands reference) that's a fiendishly complicated Shaken Espresso drink that's JUST reasonable enough that someone could order it at a drive through. I made it for a coworker once and she said it was "the greatest drink I've ever had at Starbucks, but if you put that on Tik Tok the baristas will hate you"
TheDoubleDan [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Eyy BL 1&2 was my sh*t back in the day. Still haven't played 3 yet. Been too obsessed with Apex for the past 2 years lol
christyhof 3 points 2y ago
I won’t say how, but I make banana split fraps for partners. Labor intensive, so same - I wouldn’t put this on anyone else by revealing the specs...but so good! I also make illegal smoothies (who doesn’t?!)
TheDoubleDan [OP] 3 points 2y ago
We no longer carry bananas at my store. But I was craving a vanilla bean banana frap just the other day. Guess I could always sneak in my own banana lol
saddestgirl1995 3 points 2y ago
Peaches and cream frap, but I'll never let people know how I make it.
TheDoubleDan [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Ah yes. I have a recipe for that too. I've also tried it with guava and it's pretty good too. Not as good as peach, but still pretty good.

I also used to make peach crisp tea and since Starbucks discontinued the majority of the ingredients I'll share it. It was white tea, peach infusion, vanilla syrup and heavy cream. I've tried to recreate it with the peach juice and black tea, but it is not the same.
malacam123 2 points 2y ago
Another partner at my store makes a drink thats a passion tea with toffee nut,soy milk, and a blonde ristretto shot. Tastes like trix lol
ellieisgreater 2 points 2y ago
Once upon a time, my caramel macchiato frappuccino was just a work of art.
ephemereaux 2 points 2y ago
I’m so glad I’m a barista now so I can try all these out without feeling bad 🤣
Mistakecupcake 2 points 2y ago
Raspberry cream coconut milk frappuccino with 1 scoop of vanilla bean and 1/2 scoop matcha, layered with strawberry puree on the top and bottom. Was great during the summer and didn’t wanna share what my cute “Watermelon Frappuccino” was pre-vanilla sweet cream cold foam era, but now I’d probably rather someone order that honestly.
star_pants 2 points 2y ago
Oh absolutely. I have a few that I will make for partners but I make sure they know that if a customer ever asks for it I will hunt them down
TheDoubleDan [OP] 3 points 2y ago
Bahah I don't even let other partners know what it is. I just walk up to them with a sample cup and say, "Here you go!" And the first thing out of their mouth is, "what is it?" To which I reply, "Delicious," and walk away.
star_pants 2 points 2y ago
I'll usually just tell partners it's "insert name I made up" and leave it at that. Occasionally somebody will watch me make it
xmlcx1 1 points 2y ago
my coworker created something called a ‘peach cobbler.’ all we do is put a little bit of steamed sweet cream into peach tranquility!
vampire_attire 1 points 2y ago
please share the spiced frozen lemonade it sounds so good. i wanna make it when i open on tuesday
CV02A 1 points 2y ago
I did something called Spring Breeze and Easter Bunny. Spring was a dragon drink, no inclusion, with matcha and peach syrup. Looks like a dark matcha but tastes so refreshing and sweet!
Easter Bunny was an ode to something super sweet: iced matcha with white mocha, raspberry and vanilla syrup.
MoodyStarGirl 1 points 2y ago
Captain crunch frapp. I only make it for myself, showed my coworkers so they can make it for themselves if they want, and have made it only for one regular. Strawberry frapp, with heavy cream, toffee nut instead of classic, and lots of caramel crunch bits blended in. Then I add more caramel crunch bits and swirl it around in the pitcher to mix it, then it's done.
ijustaskaita 1 points 2y ago
My fav is cream base frapachino with heavy cream instead of whole milk, vanilla bean white mocha and cram cheese. Tip it with whip and strawberry purée it tasted just like a cheesecake!
YellowSphinx 1 points 2y ago
A coworker of mine created a drink he called “the grinch” around the holidays. It was egg nog steamed with green tea and however many pumps of peppermint. was actually tasty. Wouldn’t order it though.
torpac00 1 points 2y ago
brownie batter cold foam hehehe 😈
Brgnbo 1 points 2y ago
I had a customer order a drink today that was mildly annoying but we all sampled out some for ourselves and it was actually BOMB. I’ll make it for myself/partners but I don’t think I’d ever suggest it
1b1rd 1 points 2y ago
I like to put espresso shots in the foamer with cinnamon or chocolate powder and oatmilk. Or replace capp shots with nitro, makes it soooo foamy (recommend extra hot on the milk)
happinstock 1 points 2y ago
I don't know that it's a secret but at my store they made what they called a lemon drop. A 20oz of lemonade extra hot, in a grande cup ( it shrinks a bit), one pump raspberry, two bags of passion tea.
Baristajf 1 points 2y ago
Banana milk shake... heavy cream, cream base, and a banana
impasse602 1 points 2y ago
Not all heros wear capes
AMarie-MCMXCI 1 points 2y ago
All of my creations are frappuccinos because I'm obsessed, but they're a pain in the butt to make so I don't share them.
Js_On_My_Yeet 1 points 2y ago
I've made Caramel Apple frapp, Sour Patch Tea, Red Kiwi Tea, Rainbow Creme frapp, Skittle tea, and couple others that I refuse to list just to save y'all from the tiktok misery lol
matroid21 1 points 2y ago
I have one I like to affectionately refer to as Anti-Sleep that I used to make for my drink when I went on my lunch. It was amazing, and it had enough caffeine to down a water buffalo, but I could only make it when it was absolutely dead, otherwise the person on bar would strangle me.
apracticalman 1 points 2y ago
I made an apple pie frapp once and I will be taking that one to the grave with me.
sandry_fa_toren 1 points 2y ago
I used to make a guaranteed hangover cure based on passion tea, but the ratios are precise and it looks and tastes terrible so I never told anyone what was in it :(
hellopie7 1 points 2y ago
Cold brew and nitro foam drinks(a la the old cloud drinks)
Gemma_V 1 points 2y ago
Adding cold brew to a frap is actually not a bad idea it tastes p good when you make it into a java chip; like (1/4) of the cup of cold brew its yummy too
