Keep wage when transferring?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ronnie24w
Hello!
I’m currently an SSV at a location near my home. However, in the fall I’m going to be moving to university 3 hrs away. I plan on trying to transfer to a starbucks near campus. I’d love to transfer as an SSV but I doubt that will be possible. I’m thinking I’m just going to end up working as a barista. So my question is will I go back to the standard barista pay? Someone told me even if I step down to barista I would still be getting paid what I get paid now, but that seems WAY to good to be true haha! Does anyone know if this is true?
I would ask my SM but I won’t be seeing them for quite a while and I’m curious now lol.
Thanks!

When you transfer your “bonus pay” get transferred but if you go down to barista your base pay changes as well. So if you are making 3 bucks over what a ssv makes you will get 3 bucks over what a barista makes. Does that make sense?

ahhh ok i think i understand, sadly only been at sbux for a year so i don’t think i’m making much more than the base ssv pay
thank you!

When I was going to transfer from MA to WI, I was going to have to take a $3 dock in pay from $12 to $9 because minimum wage in WI is federal. Starbucks doesn’t let you keep your wage as far as I know/experienced. My partner on the other hand was able to keep their wage for the company they transferred for and was making $5 more an hour than his coworkers just because we came from MA.

You can always ask, but they're probably going to set your wage at whatever the starting pay is for that location.
