I don’t want anyone blowing up at me about this but I just have a question about wearing fake nails at work. I’ve been told we can wear gloves over them while working but I’m not sure if thats true. Could y’all let me know your experiences with it and if you know if this is true?

the starbucks policy (which is the same as most food places) is no polish/acrylics/anything on your nails. it’s because of 1. the risk of contamination (piece of polish chips off into someone’s drink) and 2. hygiene. gunk/grime can build up under long nails and that’s gross lol. gloves aren’t really feasible bc you’d have to change them after every task/drink to prevent cross contamination. also, long/fake nails could tear the glove. if you rlly like painting your nails you could keep a small bottle nail polish remover in your bag and remove it before your shift but unfortunately fake nails probably aren’t feasible. it stinks but yanno we gotta be safe ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No, we cannot wear any polish of any color or fake nails even with gloves on as it is against policy. Acrylic nails are a health code violation in food service.

Press-ons have come a long way. They look nice and are relatively inexpensive and you can pop them off for work and wear them on your days off.

if you worked in a Safeway or target or giant then yes, you can wear nails there. I’ve been transferred around and was allowed to
