Infestation!! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Abi212
Last night our store was fumigated for roaches, a problem we noticed a couple weeks ago. This morning I opened and my coworkers and I encountered live buggers in the pastry case, ice bin, behind espresso bars, etc. we trapped some of them, all of us afraid to touch anything. In total there were over 12 live ones we found; we took pictures and sent them to our manager.

The shift called the manager who talked to the DM and decided to KEEP US OPEN. Drive-thru only of course, let’s be reasonable 🙄. At least we got our mobiles turned off, and they (manger and DM) emphasized our customer connection should be 💯 since we were doing DT only.

All the workers felt uncomfortable and unsafe, but our manager didn’t close us. I feel so unheard and not supported, especially during this pandemic! Why are customers constantly prioritized over partners’ mental and physical health?! I was on edge all morning

This would be a call to ethics and compliance or your local health inspector. A health inspector, if they see you’re open with live roaches, will shut it down.

And it’s a fuck show getting to open again

Sounds like someone needs to make a call to the health inspector.

Believe me, we were all thinking it
shypye 17 points 2y ago
Ok but did anyone actually do it?
hecaete47 5 points 2y ago
So why didn’t anyone do it?
Time_Ad6816 17 points 2y ago
i feel that 100%. We had a tornado warning the other day and our DM basically told us that we were supposed to stay there until a tornado was right outside our store🥴

Can’t collect work-related injury pay if you’re dead 🤭

Noticed mold in the ice machine a couple weeks ago, told a team lead. Nah, keep serving moldy ice, its a busy Saturday and can’t be losing those profits 🤑🤮

Woah in the actual machine?!
And I agree shouldn’t it be a routine clean play task?
Baristajf 6 points 2y ago
Why isn’t the ice machine done monthly when clean play happens ??
Mistakecupcake 5 points 2y ago
Because my Tarbux didn’t have a team leader for months so everyone stopped caring. Long answer is someone signed off on it but did little more than a half-assed wipedown of the machine >_>
Baristajf 3 points 2y ago
Ahhh then you need to get with your SD or ETL that is the PMLs job
Mistakecupcake 2 points 2y ago
Bruh I have a tub of water catching drips from a leaky water filter. It’s been there for months. I meant literally *everyone* stopped caring, especially those guys lmfao.

Monthly? Our clean play is done each Sunday night
jae459 3 points 2y ago
There are weekly clean play tasks and some are done monthly. When I did it, I did pumps, Hobart, back room fridge wipe outs, fridge gaskets, RTD/E, and the ice machine. Weekly I cleaned the ice machine but once a month we’d turn it off, empty the ice and do a major clean of it

2019 was the last time I signed off with Corp
Baristajf 2 points 2y ago
Tarbucks there is no clean play

That happens when the Fumigate roaches will scatter the day after. You’d be surprised how many restaurants actively have them for months and nothing is done about it
