Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by dazedandconfusedhere
Tell me why the iced guava passion fruit drink has pineapple ginger syrup and no passion tea??

I’m a green bean & this drink wasn’t in my training, so on cold bar when someone ordered it today I did passion tea, guava, and water & shook it with ice. Makes sense right?

Nope - DTR tells me “hey that’s not how you make this”… whoops 😬

I guess the “drink” part should’ve clued me in that it got coconut milk, but pineapple?????

I know it’s confusing. The guava passionfruit drink is a shaken coconut milk drink that gets guava juice blend and pineapple ginger syrup, similar to its “sister drinks” that came out for last year’s summer release; the pineapple matcha and (discontinued THANK GOD) golden ginger. This drink in particular should be a relatively light coral pink color.

You can remember that it is different from the iced tea because the iced tea is “passion tango”, rather than “passionfruit” so the tea has nothing to do with any passionfruit flavor. It just has the word “passion” in its name, but it’s flavor profile comes from ingredients like hibiscus and lemongrass.

Starbucks says that our guava juice blend has “notes of passionfruit”, so that’s where the passionfruit flavor is coming from. I made the same mistake too as a green bean so don’t worry! I had green beans making the same mistake today even too. It’s probably one of the most confusing drinks in my opinion and it’s often overlooked in training bc it’s not very popular.

Yeah the person on DTR showed me how to make it, and I totally should’ve picked up on the coconut milk from “drink”

But I still hate that it gets pineapple 😂
They should just call it the “pineapple guava drink”

They should also make the syrup just pineapple, the ginger just makes it taste wierd
Blackberry-Party 1 points 2y ago
True, I agree that it tastes MORE like guava (obviously, as it’s a guava juice lmao) than passionfruit but 🤷‍♀️

Pineapple matcha is still on our menu at mine.... :(
Blackberry-Party 8 points 2y ago
Yeah pineapple matcha is a menu item but the golden ginger was discontinued! That’s the one I was referring to.

Ooooh, ok

i always made it with passion, guava, and the coconut milk. people always came in saying it tasted wrong only for me to remake it wrong unknowingly 😂 it’s so misleading

so the name gets confusing because you see passion and you think passion tea. but it's actually passionfruit. Our passion tea has zero passion fruit in it, it's a blend of hibiscus and lemongrass, passion is just the name. the guava passion fruit drink is meant to taste like guava and passion fruit. The blend of flavors you get when you mix the ingredients for the guava passionfruit drink somehow mimics passionfruit enough for it to be named as such but passion tea flavor is much too different and could never do that.

tl;dr passion tea is hibiscus and lemongrass while guava passion fruit drink is mean tot have the taste of passionfruit not passion tea.

If you see the word that is called “drink” it will be with coconut milk, like the pink drink, dragon drink and the forbidden violet drink. I tell this to all my trainees.

Yeah, I was about to get into two years as a barista when they launched this and made that mistake. You’re definitely not alone
