Applied & Waiting (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SpAcEcAt_94
So I have recently applied to a Starbucks that is being built extremely close to where I live (like maybe a 10 minute walk or a 3 minute drive). Thing is, I applied to another Starbucks a few months ago that was 20 minutes by interstate (American so 70 mph would be commute speed). I had the interview at that Starbucks and the manager really liked me but didn't give me the job because she didn't have enough hours to really offer me that would make a 20 minute commute worth the pay. She did say that she would pass my name to the manager at the Starbucks being built. It's now been a few months and I haven't heard anything. I did go ahead and submitted an application at the new Starbucks (as the application expires after 90 days). At this point, the Starbucks might be open in a month or so? They have to get the parking lot poured and probably still have yet to install any machines for making the actual coffee.

My question is: when am I likely to hear back? How long would it take for a new Starbucks to hire and train new baristas to be able to open?

Thanks in advance!

They will most likely bring in seasoned baristas first to open the store and then hire new ones fairly quickly. My friend got a job at a Starbucks that was brand new a couple months back and this was how it happened.

That makes sense! Hopefully that happens here :)

My starbucks just opened in January but our store had open interviews you just had to come and sign up for an interview and wait. so i don’t know if that’s a common thing but maybe they’ll do the same for yours? they didn’t offer the open interviews until after everything was built and we opened a few weeks after i got hired

I can see that happening. I just hoped to get hired relatively quickly.

So where does your interview took place ? At the store or somewhere else?

My interview took place via zoom due to COVID-19.
