I am so torn 😭 (self.starbucksbaristas)

I am a green bean, but was hired straight on as a SSV. Next Monday will be 3 months for me and my first week as a full shift. However, I was just told of a job opportunity that is located in my town, right down the road from my house but it starts at minimum wage, which is $11/hr. I currently make $14.61/hr but drive 45 minutes to work. The other job is at a local bakery doing something I enjoy and not anywhere near as stressful as being a SSV, but there's not really any advancement opportunities. I don't know what to do. If it we're just me, I'd switch in a heartbeat, but I have a family to think about as well. My husband has been using my Lyra benefits and has went from being bed ridden for over a year to outside working on vehicles and stuff again. The bakery won't have anything like that. I just don't know what would be best for my family. Sorry for the pity party but I'm so lost!

i think you should ask your husband about it because the commute you make kills your pay in a way and you seem to have more cons than pros... maybe look into outside lyra subscriptions or another form of therapy if you’re truly looking to leave. ps i would’ve left in a heartbeat regardless of the situation so god bless youre more compassionate

Is there any possible way you could significantly reduce your hours? I’m not sure how lenient other stores are, we have a few SSV’s that work less than 15 hours a week. The difference in pay isn’t really that drastic when you consider the drive. I would take the bakery job in an instant but if there’s a possibility for you to do both for the benefits then go for it. If not, look into what you and your husband can do so that he is still seeing a professional and you’re also happy.
