What are the steps for a manager to deal with a bad employee? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by gRapemurders
Been a shift for a year, ran into multiple bad employe habits that has been addressed multiple times with evidence and witnesses. Every two-three months of it still going on, I once again express how it’s affecting not just me and the partners, but the store as well.
Im always told « there’s many steps I need to take on my end, and although it might not seem as so, those employees are being dealt with but I’m not allowed to discuss that with you. »

Im not looking for people to be fired, but I never heard a verbal warning, write ups, or anyone getting fired in the entire two years I’ve worked here.

Am I being ran around? Is she basically saying « don’t worry about it, just keep working »?

I would honestly take it with the DM and let them know what’s been going on.

I’ve thought about this, but I hate going over the chain of command. Especially if it is being dealt with and is honestly a small problem.
Can I ask why you recommend this?
For example if an employee has been late to every shift and calls out almost 4-5x a month, what would your manager have done?
Is there really some arbitrary steps they need to make?

I been dealing with a lot at my store and my manager was aware of what’s been going on, but it got to the DM and he’s the one dealing with my situation. But they usually get write ups and talks about why they called out and what’s been going on, but lately my manager been letting them go if they can’t work or come in.

Ps. I’ve talked to the employees myself as well. Usually it’s « sorry » and shoulder shrugs. Then I go bitching with other coworkers who tell me « yea that’s common and the manager won’t do anything about it »
Is this all Starbucks? Is there some waiting period before a manager is allowed to address someone?

This is how my store is. We have partners that in my opinion should have already been fired. The majority of our night crew is pitiful and our SM won’t do anything about it despite having several shifts come to her in tears looking for help.
