My capitalism haters, what do we think about this? (i.redd.it)

Call PCC this is so aggressive
M333oww [OP] 101 points 2y ago
I definitely will, thank you
cherrythot 17 points 2y ago
Give us an update with whatever happens!
dazedandconfusedhere 273 points 2y ago
How can you improve customer connection if you have no time to connect with a customer because you’re understaffed?
M333oww [OP] 107 points 2y ago
My thoughts exactly. It literally doesn’t make any sense and it’s all so contradictory

"hours are reduced across the board" + "if you want more hours ask other partners to give theirs up" ?????? what the actual hell?
canidieyet_ 80 points 2y ago
Yeah exactly??? Like understaffing is NOT the barista’s issue. Starbucks can very well afford to pay us all a fair wage with decent hours by they are just money hungry pigs like every other corporation 🤷‍♀️
quality_reading 111 points 2y ago
I'm taking a ton of business courses for school, and the number ONE rule, is to make happy employees.

Workers who feel mistreated, and under appreciated are less likely to perform well in the work place. They'll likely by snippy and less personable as compared to a worker who feels valued.

This is not the employees faults, it's the employers.

That being said, there are some people who are just rude to customers because they're working. We have people like that at my store, and the only fix is to find someone to replace them.
M333oww [OP] 43 points 2y ago
The issue is not the being nice to customers in general, everyone at my store are actually incredibly nice and care about each customer. The issue is that they want us to somehow do way more than what we already are doing, and that’s where people are like “what more are we supposed to do?”

This is very much employers issue, but they’re putting the blame on us, when everyone at my store, and I can honestly confidently say that everyone in my district is really good about being nice to customers.
blueberrrytea 11 points 2y ago
it’s like they want you to have full on conversations with customers while also making drinks which for some people is really hard like me lol, i can’t make drinks and have a intensive conversation at the same time otherwise i mess up.
somebodytohug 13 points 2y ago
This is so accurate to everyone I work with, and definitely myself. When the energy in my store is all wrong, when my SM is breathing down our necks about times during peak, it makes me feel like I can’t connect, like I don’t even want to talk to anyone. However, on a good day, I’m smiling and chatting with everyone that comes in. Wish they understood this.
givemeapples 10 points 2y ago
Honestly i feel like you don't even need to take classes to understand this basic concept that should seem like common sense. It blows my mind how employers simply can't grasp this idea. Many people have heard of "happy wife, happy life" and its basically the same idea in a workplace. How are baristas supposed to create a warm and welcoming environment if they themselves don't feel welcome? This whole thing is ridiculous, and I hope OP reports the fuck out of their SM. They don't deserve to be in a leadership position
real-3st 6 points 2y ago
Some of them are so lazy when it comes to investing in their own team that they really don't deserve the salary that most shifts do their job for
drkesi88 88 points 2y ago
You should all quit en masse, if you are able.
M333oww [OP] 56 points 2y ago
I REALLY wish we could, but everyone needs this job, and it’s very hard to find more jobs hiring in our area right now. It’s so sad
drkesi88 53 points 2y ago
This might serve as a motivation to unionize, then. They should not be able to treat you this way without consequences.
is_it_soy 76 points 2y ago
“IF YOU NEED MORE HOURS: Ask other partners to give up their hours.”

**Translation:** If you need money, ask someone else if you can have THEIR money.
M333oww [OP] 23 points 2y ago
RIGHT!! Like.... you mean to tell me Starbucks can’t afford to give us hours???? You mean to tell me that my store, and others in my district that are consistently busy DONT have the money to give people hours????
idkcassie 52 points 2y ago
i agrée that this is shitty and unacceptable. my store is top in our district in CC (at a 68… that’s still “low”) but here’s a way i’ve been able to stay sane while also contributing to CC: only take that extra required step with gold card members. they’re the ones getting the surveys. having a bad day? dont push yourself to talk to every customer who pays cash or debit/credit if you don’t want to talk to them (beyond basic customer service), just focus on those gold card members.
M333oww [OP] 30 points 2y ago
This is genuinely such a good idea thank you. It just sucks cause that just means that people are getting treated differently, but there is really no ethical way of staying sane working in the conditions we have to work in
aspen_silence 20 points 2y ago
I pushed hard in my store to have us focus more on MOP customers since 100% of them are using the app vs the walk-ins which usually don't. Sure having a line in the cafe is tough but if I'm mobile ordering it's because I just want to come in and leave. The other shifts seemed surprised when our connection scores went up because that's what I was doing. Then I started working less during the day/bulk of the business and our scores have started to slide again. Its almost like targeting potential survey takers works?
meloscav 3 points 2y ago
This is exactly why I’m extra sweet to MOP customers
golden-goldilocks 10 points 2y ago
wait only gold card members get the surveys??? is that even half of the customer base?
idkcassie 12 points 2y ago
app users in general can but i believe it’s just the gold card members, yes. no, it’s not even half the customer base 🤪
astivana 3 points 2y ago
Gold isn’t a thing anymore, but app users ARE the only ones getting the surveys, yep!!
FfierceLaw 1 points 2y ago
Do you mean that the handful of elderly customers who physically have only the gold card without a chip? I thought that it was customers who use the app to collect stars and pay! If it’s only the people who hand me a physical gold card that I have to swipe inside then we’re doomed
idkcassie 1 points 2y ago
i’ve been corrected! it’s people with sbux accounts. so physical cards, apps, etc are all likely to get the surveys.
thebaristabarbie 46 points 2y ago
Even if you like capitalism, there's no way that could appear fair. Wtf is this
M333oww [OP] 28 points 2y ago
It was posted at my store yesterday. Literally took everything in me not to scream
thebaristabarbie 35 points 2y ago
That would make we want to quit, not work harder!
M333oww [OP] 22 points 2y ago
RIGHT!!! And that’a exactly what is going to happen when they keep acting like this
kitcat1210 17 points 2y ago
Yeah sameeee. If I saw that I would 100% just walk out. Wouldnt give a 2 weeks or anything lmao. This is such bullshit!!!
snowflakenecklace 12 points 2y ago
literally if anyone ever sent me home because i’m “not connecting enough” theyre seeing me exactly one (1) more time and it’ll be to pick up my last round of tips
the42ndfl00r 3 points 2y ago
My SM had this idea in her head that one of my best baristas wasn't connecting enough. She was always perfectly polite, helpful, suggestive. I guess the SM thought she wasn't sincere enough or didn't go above and beyond enough? Anyway, she didn't schedule her for THREE weeks. All the baristas we're giving her shifts so she still had hours. We were all so mad about her punitive scheduling.
IThrowDekuNuts 41 points 2y ago
This is an example of the type of shit that made me quit without notice after wasting 5 years (SS for half of that) with that company.
M333oww [OP] 26 points 2y ago
This is CRAZy and I know someone who is pretty much going to do the same thing because they’re literally being overworked like dogs and not getting paid remotely enough
IThrowDekuNuts 22 points 2y ago
My most recent manager kept using “oh but they’re gonna raise wages soon”, “you promised you’d never change your availability”, “I’m gonna do everything in my power to keep you on as a SS” (because I changed my availability and she found my replacement THAT DAY but strung me along for another two months). They harassed the entire team about their personal lives and tried to push people into Headspace & Lyra anytime they had a “bad day”. PCC did nothing, DM did nothing, corporate did nothing. When I tell you I RAN.
M333oww [OP] 16 points 2y ago
God this makes me so sad, because they really make peoples lives miserable. I’m so sorry you had to deal with that. That’s part of the Starbucks brainwashing that is probably somewhere in the handbooks on how to “deal” with people in “bad moods” rather than, “how can I make sure my employees feel comfortable and waNT to do a good job?”
rudebii 28 points 2y ago
Not only is this unacceptable, it’s also unproductive.

This person’s store is struggling with connections because they aren’t displaying themselves. Fish rots from the head.
M333oww [OP] 7 points 2y ago
ITS SO UNPRODUCTIVE!!! It just DOES not work and I’m so confused as to why they can’t fix it... it’s all so avoidable but they’re literally so up their own ass they don’t consider that literally all of us have worked through the pandemic, and it has been so exhausting and so hard for EVERYONE and they have the nerve to treat their employees that have been so loyal to them like this????
rudebii 8 points 2y ago
I've worked for SMs and DMs that would SAY these things to us, none of them were stupid enough to print it out and highlight it.
daggerdangerxx 23 points 2y ago
walk out. unacceptable.
M333oww [OP] 22 points 2y ago
I already applied to more places so hopefully I find a job and then can quit and do something about all this shit
daggerdangerxx 9 points 2y ago
good for you!
allamericanogirl 7 points 2y ago
But also don’t let them force you out like this. Call ethics and compliance. This is not on you or your coworkers, this is bad management.
Saltymushroom99 22 points 2y ago
This is super shitty wtf
collusion54 21 points 2y ago
As a customer, I never expect you to take the time to get to know me because...it’s a coffee shop. Where I go to get coffee. Typically right before I have to be at work and neither I, nor you guys, can really put that much into a developing a relationship between the time I give my order and the time I’m waiting for my coffee. But the times I come in and the barista is like, oh hey you - that’s seriously enough. What customers are taking these surveys? A smile, a hello, is totally sufficient. If I wanted a long conversation where I provide empty answers to baristas with forced enthusiasm for the appearance of connection I would go to Dutch bros.
M333oww [OP] 11 points 2y ago
THIS!! Because I love greeting people like that too!! But I don’t like forcing happiness onto people???? Like literally sometimes you just have a bad day or you’re dealing with personal shit, not everyone is looking for a personal relationship with the people that give them coffee LOL
collusion54 2 points 2y ago
I appreciates you lol
storietime12 20 points 2y ago
But like. If we are not only understaffed, but rushed with 20 people in the lobby, dealing with 10 drink cafe, multiple drink mobile, AND multiple drink ubers, how the fuck are we meant to connect with every customwr we see on a more than intimate basis? Are we meant to be taking every one of them out for a first, second, and third date, meal and drinks included?
M333oww [OP] 9 points 2y ago
LITERALLY!!! It literally just WONT work the way they’re forcing their employees to do stuff. It’s so FUCKED
canidieyet_ 3 points 2y ago
Not to mention all these things while keeping DT times at 30 seconds!
coffeenb1 17 points 2y ago
Genuinely disgusting.
sailorlily623 14 points 2y ago
Wow holy shit that’s horrible
wifeypoopoo 13 points 2y ago
My manager just high fived my team today over a connection score of 35 😆
real-3st 6 points 2y ago
A good leader celebrates accomplishments no matter how small for they see the growth not the score
SchemingPancake 4 points 2y ago
^THIS. This is how to motivate partners raise these types of scores, not the BS about punitive scheduling and working under threat of termination.
canidieyet_ 3 points 2y ago
We hit our DTW goal of 55 seconds during peak and my SM made us goodie bags with encouraging notes! A good manager can do wonders for any job, even if understaffed
dstnygn 13 points 2y ago
my SM is one of the most lax and kind SMs and we tied in first for CC in the region last time they came out. perhaps its not stupid shit like this that helps the store, but hiring good people, from the top down.
gatorberry 11 points 2y ago
someone please take away highlighters from our SMs.
frappeyourmom 8 points 2y ago
Like seriously. Is your manager a former sorority member? Last time I saw something this aggressively highlighted was a rush week flyer.
soffybuttons 10 points 2y ago
the part that gets me is the "only 41% of our customers feel like we blahblahblah" THATS NOT HOW THE METRIC WORKS. that means that of the very random and very few people that took the survey, 41 people gave you a 100% score. if someone gave you a 9/10, that doesnt matter. its not an average score its the number of 10/10s you got. its the dumbest scoring system. if 41% of your customers truly felt like you treated then only as transactions, i could understand management being frustrated, but this note and the hours being cut is BEYOND what is appropriate in this situation. its aggressive and backwards and makes me mad for you
lechatsombre 10 points 2y ago
I’d transfer stores, this Is beyond ridiculous I’m sorry your dealing with this.
the42ndfl00r 2 points 2y ago
Or as I've discovered, your SM doesn't have to LET you transfer if they think you're "underperforming".
M333oww [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Unfortunately the management in other stores around me are just as bad:( it’s just so sad
ukucello 9 points 2y ago
Customer connection scores literally set you up to fail. They are utterly meaningless numbers and this is totally wack.
Br1ghtpunk 8 points 2y ago
“Ask other partners to give up their hours???” What??????
creatorofstuffn 7 points 2y ago
As a customer, should I ask to speak to all the employees and engage with them for 10 mintes? Including the manager.
FfierceLaw 5 points 2y ago
No, but if you get a survey (you only will if you have/use the Sbux app) give your store the highest scores in all categories
creatorofstuffn 3 points 2y ago
I fill that survey out, so hard!!
FfierceLaw 2 points 2y ago
Yay!!!!! Thank you ;)
The_Septic_Shock 6 points 2y ago
Still feel like partners? Seems to me that you're being treated like a transaction
the42ndfl00r 3 points 2y ago
Definitely transactional, not transformational!!!
voidNform 6 points 2y ago
We are in a pandemic customer connection is really not my priority if it ever was... and all this to be paid 9 or 10 bucks?
NervosaNervous 6 points 2y ago
Ah yes. Let’s threaten baristas livelihoods. That will surely make them feel like connecting with customers 🙄
snowflakenecklace 6 points 2y ago
i’m sorry what the FUCK
cherrythot 5 points 2y ago
My #1 priority as a barista is being able to afford to feed myself, actually.
Sauceyd0ugh 5 points 2y ago
Yet another example that large corporations don’t give a shit about their employees. Starbucks gives an appearance that they do with the benefits they offer but they truly don’t.

Honestly this is why we need fucking unions. I’m truly sorry you have to deal with this.
onapapersun 5 points 2y ago
The make it or break it question "did my barista get to know me?" is the dumbest and most vague question on there. Everyone will interpret that question differently. Like "do they remember my name?". "Do they know my drink?". "Do they know my life story?". "I don't want to talk to these people, just give me coffee". There's some customers that love to chat and others who don't like to talk at all. If i see that customer is not interested in connecting, i will respect that because then it comes off as forced and some people just like their space (as an extreme introvert, i also like my space when i am out and about). I'm sorry that you have to deal with an SM like that. A paycheck is not a prize, it is something we all need to live. This is the kind of shit that will make good employees leave because they are not being treated well.
harmie10001 5 points 2y ago
Jesus Christ, this is insane. As a customer i just want coffee, not a forced interaction with someone
contextkid 5 points 2y ago
Legally they can not send anyone home without their consent. You’re entitled to the hours you are scheduled. They can’t take hours away from you by sending you home.
BunnyKerfluffle 1 points 2y ago
If a person is not complying with the job requirements they certainly can be sent home.
meloscav 4 points 2y ago
Retaliation via cutting hours is illegal. This is according to my own SM who I had to speak to about cutting MY hours (which was actually an accident, thank god) but I had a manager at a different job who did shit like this. Y’all deserve better
M333oww [OP] 2 points 2y ago
So do you 😭
cnc32 4 points 2y ago
Maybe this is because I'm from New York (lol), but I would never expect a barista to "get to know me" beyond being polite and friendly when we interact. I had no idea this was something that corporate pressures baristas to do. I'm giving the highest connection rating every time I do a survey for now on.
alice-daisy 4 points 2y ago
our connection score has never been higher than 41 oh my god
linkedarmsforpeace 4 points 2y ago
Cringe!!
mushroomappreciation 4 points 2y ago
Holy fuck, and I thought my location was bad. Good luck 🤞
can-i-have-an-apple 3 points 2y ago
I’m a shift at my store and we’re working to raise our score, it’s currently at a 31. This kind of behavior is downright evil. I know I’m still barely in management, and I have no weight to throw outside my district, but if you need someone else to support, count me in.
M333oww [OP] 1 points 2y ago
This is wonderful I’m happy people like you are in management
can-i-have-an-apple 1 points 2y ago
Seriously, if you want me to bring attention to this to my DM, shoot me a message with your store number and I’ll do what I can to bring it up to him.
maRkmyvvoRds 3 points 2y ago
The arrogance.
hyfr4k 3 points 2y ago
this pisses me off so much, i’m sorry. i work at a drive thru store and they complain about wait times but also complain that we’re not making enough connections. the question is do you want customers in and out? or do you want us to talk to each one? it’s frustrating the conflicting feedback or ideas of how things should be done. good luck with your situation, this looks like hell
No-Host3711 3 points 2y ago
this is the exact reason why I want to quit my store. The DMs and the Managers only care about drive times and “customer connection” all while understaffing the team and disregarding the staffs well-being.
[deleted] 3 points 2y ago
How the FUCK do they think making the understaffing issue WORSE is going to IMPROVE the stupid fucking customer connection score?

Like, "ah yes, let me make it so every single one of the employees at this location is not only more stressed out about money (because of less hours) but *also* more stressed out because they're being forced to increase their work load, that will surely make it so they are able to have cheerful interactions with customers on a consistent basis :)"
onapapersun 3 points 2y ago
Exactly. When you have proper staffing, everything runs smoothly and each person on focus on their roles. If i have a DTO while i am on window, i am free to have better connections because i am not multitasking constantly. Also, when people are stressed in their lives due to money or personal situations, it's a harder to do a good job. With hour cuts, they may have to resort to a second job to make ends meet and then that causes some serious mental health problems. We are burned out and exhausted but we still have to deliver top notch service with an empty cup.
hopelovepeace33 2 points 2y ago
They reduced hours because customer connection dropped!? That’s absolutely ridiculous & honestly don’t think this is allowed especially in such an aggressive way to where it’s going to create a very toxic environment.
colonade17 2 points 2y ago
This is aggressive, and I think poor management to try to get partners to respond to this, and I think most partners in the store won't respond well, and are more likely to quit or transfer because of this.

But in principle everything the SM is trying to do is exactly what starbucks is. Starbucks isn't about great coffee, Almost anywhere you can find a starbucks you can find a better coffee somewhere within a few miles. The business model of Starbucks is about love-bombing your customers, making them feel good about coming into the store so that they come back and buy more stuff. That's why signs like this come up every so often, but signs about making better coffee almost never show up.

It's an indictment of our society as a whole that customer service is more important than quality products.
M333oww [OP] 2 points 2y ago
Yes because people, especially Starbucks customers, ALWAYS think that they’re entitled to us treating
Them like royalty and think that servers aren’t actual human beings. It brings them the money :,)
too-Affectionate 2 points 2y ago
This is so beyond inappropriate for so many reasons.
My store just celebrated 41% as a great score idk what this person has up their butt but they had better be expecting a termination themselves. This is NOT the starbucks way and I can't believe they actually have the audacity to print this out.
fruity_boba 2 points 2y ago
Its makes me uncomfortable to know that I recognize those upper leadership names and that this may be a store somewhere in my area and if it is...I'm so sorry, I wish you all the best. And if you need someone to help fight I'll help you 💯
serialsquisher 2 points 2y ago
i work in a kroger starbucks and we’re unionized, idk if you are but PLEASE speak to your union or someone else higher up in the starbucks chain. that’s unacceptable
M333oww [OP] 1 points 2y ago
Starbucks doesn’t have a union :( but I’m looking into it!!!!!
jupiter_bug 2 points 2y ago
I always thought being clean, safe, and ready should be our priority but what the fuck do I know?
leekyabloh 2 points 2y ago
LMFAOOO your manager thought this WOULD motivate partners?
iluvurobertsmith 2 points 2y ago
'ask other partners for their hours' uhhhh wth
iluvurobertsmith 2 points 2y ago
upon rereading, i noticed that it in fact said "give up** their hours" omg that's even worse and more aggressive HUH
[deleted] 2 points 2y ago
[removed]
real-3st 2 points 2y ago
But in all seriousness. report them if they have not been doing any helpful coaching whatsoever. "coaching" ranges anywhere from "Oh soap is blue" to changing your entire approach towards a work day. its a lazy broad term and they need to do better
WhileGloomy 2 points 2y ago
Everytime I or someone else complains about working here or mentions the serious issue of workers getting pushed and assaulted, several bootlickers come in and say starbucks is the best workplace and it's better than so many other places and they have never seen a customer or manager mistreat a worker. Many of you are bootlickers or work alongside bootlickers who will side with corporate even as you get stabbed by an unruly customer.
chellichelli 2 points 2y ago
Oh great! So it’s okay if someone is at the window for three minutes while I chat with them?
CobaltLemon 2 points 2y ago
So on my district we’re still on a COVID schedule. So no mixing shifts (morning vs afternoon) with out a two day window between shifts.

We also still can’t go to different stores to pick up hours nor borrow baristas.

So half of what they’re telling you to do wouldn’t work if your district is following similar guidelines.
el-emo 2 points 2y ago
they would take hours from a human being during a still very active pandemic cause of “customer connections.” when more than half the time, the customers we have to make connections with treat us like absolute and utter shit.
fvckmeihatethis 2 points 2y ago
no matter how nice an employee is to a customer, if the wait time for that customer is extend my long bc of the EMPLOYERS inability to staff, you will 99% probably not get a 7 on that questionnaire.
MrsOceanGrown 2 points 2y ago
While the customer is waiting for their items, you say, “So my boss requires me to try and get to to know your life while your getting your coffee so either pretend to tell me or go ahead and tell me where you live and your social while your at it”
blueberrrytea 2 points 2y ago
this is how you make your employees MORE unhappy and unwilling to talk lol
kayleeispunk 2 points 2y ago
Yikes... that sounds so terrible. My manager and shifts know I’m the worst at connecting with customers (thank u anxiety!) so I’m never on front, cafe bar, or in window during peak. I’m one of the fastest baristas we have, but if I’m talking I get distracted, so I’m usually on drive or cold bar. Early mornings are the only time I can comfortably be in the window and talk to guests cuz I’m also solo drive at that time.
echtrae_94 2 points 2y ago
This is screams poor management. So glad I'm leaving this company next week.
michellowellooo 2 points 2y ago
My SM gave us all the exact same information (same wording too) but she did it verbally.
[deleted] 2 points 2y ago
Customer connection is dumb. Idk if it’s like this at all stores but at mine it’s based off of a survey that people take. People who have good experiences don’t leave surveys, they just come back and enjoy the service. People who have a one off and experience leave a negative review to fuck with us.

It’s just a flawed way to base. In my district we have the lowest score of all the stores but for me personally customers always say I made their day, and I’m an absolute joy to talk to. I just think it’s hard to quantify something like that. If you really wanna get an idea have a manger talk to customers ever now and then and ask them how they felt service is. People just don’t take surveys. I’ve had so many pleasant experiences places but I’m not gonna take a survey to say I did, I’m just gonna go back.

Idk it bothers me that customer connection is determined like that. At least at my store the manager doesn’t harp on it and like cut our hours and stuff, honestly it’s only been mentioned once in like the four months I’ve worked there. But that’s the end of my rant.
Vader_Boi 2 points 2y ago
Time to quit that shithole
josiemoppinnn 2 points 2y ago
fuck that, call ethics.
jjd022980 2 points 2y ago
Wow yep I should call partner resources! This isn’t okay especially since we are admist of a pandemic! Oh transfer because we’ve just entered a hostile environment territory
Stella_2020 2 points 2y ago
I thought our number 1 priority was making drinks and food like they ordered though... imagine the customers walk in and all I want to do is talk to them. 😂

However, as a ssv it’s very frustrating for me when we have all the people staffed for dto to stay planted and connecting and they just refuse because they aren’t a “people person” at that point I do tell them that’s part of the job and we all do it.. I’ve never actually sent anyone home for it usually that gets them a little more engaged.

Seriously though how hard is it to ask how they are doing or if they are enjoying the weather? They shouldn’t be at the window longer than what those two questions take to be answered.
yellowsock12 2 points 2y ago
My stores CC score is a 21 😂😪
nickintheback08 2 points 2y ago
I can’t imagine any sane person thinking this would make a positive impact on their store.
t_dsam_m 2 points 2y ago
Pls give us an update, this is extremely unfair & I hope you get a change of leadership or somethin soon
mrsfrankenstud 2 points 2y ago
What are they going to do? Fire all of you? I'd double down on that threat and see how low the cc score can really go before deucing out
csnegley7 2 points 2y ago
Just wow. I’m appalled
FfierceLaw 1 points 2y ago
Has this been shared with local media? Often Sbux stories get attention, l’ll bet if this is leaked it will too
LeoTheNinja220 1 points 2y ago
That's how you kill a store mfrs just gonna go somewhere else
Fast-Tower151 1 points 2y ago
Partners won't even unite to demand safe working comditions. Wtf do you expect
mudpuppy245 1 points 2y ago
Also the survey is such a misguided statistic! They only report the scores that are 7/7. So 1-6/7 count the same.
No true surveyor or statistician would EVER realistically use Starbucks' insane system.
meezy92 1 points 2y ago
They should have just used bright pink paper instead. What a waste of highlighter ink
meezy92 1 points 2y ago
Also fuck Sbux lol -former 177
real-3st 1 points 2y ago
Our manager doesn't ever blame us for a lack in score and always makes sure to psych us up / let us know how thankful he is for the effort and hard work and even tho we run skeleton crews after even a single call out we managed to hit #1 in our state recently with around a 71. Your manager is shit they need a discipline lesson on how to treat people better. This? I would flip my shit
gaileypoo 1 points 2y ago
YIKES. i’m sorry your manager is a DICK. what are they doing to help improve the connection score??? reducing hours does not help create a better environment. call any number you have to, this is all sorts of fucked up.
faakthisshit 1 points 2y ago
As a customer I’m only concerned with 2 things: 1. Are you efficient and not an ass 2. Is my order correct. I’m not there to make friends.
blueberrrytea 1 points 2y ago
if my manager ever did this i’d be so upset 😭
RedVelvet292 1 points 2y ago
I re-read this multiple times to make sure I read that correctly.
I’d definitely call this in, it’s ridiculous.
Give up hours? That’s taking away someone’s: daycare costs, bill money, gas money and food money.
Hope the situation gets better! Keep us updated!
Capital-Cap6260 1 points 2y ago
we never got it in writing but our SM said the same thing. the only thing no one is following it and how as SSV that cares more about the store than our SM. I try to coach but when our SM doesn’t do anything other than send groupme text that we need to do better, whats the point??? And how can you coach someone that don’t want to be coached and one of them a SSV that still is very new to SBX
HeartsandPins 1 points 2y ago
Transfer to another store if you can. This is so passive aggressive and frankly bullshit.
Month_Puzzleheaded 1 points 2y ago
I see you didn’t cover the DM’s name and his boss lol. I understand how you feel, my store was down on customer connection too and we got hours cut down. And it’s not because we didn’t have partners not doing their jobs or not showing up, we got hit by three cases of COVID at my store and had to change our hours around. Sometimes they want us to connect with people and have conversations with them and not every time they want to connect with us or they just want their coffee and be on the road again. Also if it’s the Adam, I’m thinking then I know how hard it’s to get to work with him.
T00lf00l1991 1 points 2y ago
Nope the fuck outta there
RosyEmmy 1 points 2y ago
Wtf?!??
haifonly 1 points 2y ago
Yo just straight up have hour long convos with customers when they come in. Just do it. If you don't think a customer will wait and converse with you that long DM me your store and I'll show tf up and legit bullshit with you for hours.

This is so fucked
idkanothername4me 1 points 2y ago
I am genuinely so sad and disgusted for you to have that type of management, it’s disgraceful and I hope they get a call from PCC putting them in their place.
Educational-Tour-401 1 points 2y ago
fucking yikes. People need these jobs to pay for bills and this is how you respond? Seems like corporate needs to do some internal management review!
LightWhitePeaches 1 points 2y ago
Id be looking to transfer. And call the ethics line.
Js_On_My_Yeet 1 points 2y ago
Wow. If this is coming from your DM this is not managing correctly or efficiently. What the actual fuck? Don't listen to anything about customer connections. That's complete bullshit.
a_1900 1 points 2y ago
ah nah baby that ain’t gonna work :/ y’all should just walk out one day and report it to pcc

golden-goldilocks 1 points 2y ago
what can the customers who aren’t gold card holders do about this?
who should we email or complain to?

i worked at a coffee shop similar to starbucks and i would hate getting bagged on for not “connecting” enough. i hate seeing you guys go through this.
femalehomosapien18 1 points 2y ago
41 isn’t bad though...
t_dsam_m 2 points 2y ago
I think it really depends on your situation, some ppl need the money more than others 🤷🏻‍♀️ if your trying to support others than just yourself, 41 really isn’t enough with the wages baristas get. Also, this is unethical- the connections are based on others opinions, even if employees are doing their best that doesn’t guarantee a good outcome, so even if they’re still going to get 40 hours, they shouldn’t get their time just bc of lower scores.
femalehomosapien18 3 points 2y ago
I’m saying 41 for a customer connection score !
femalehomosapien18 2 points 2y ago
So I’m confused why their manager is being such a b****
femalehomosapien18 2 points 2y ago
I agree I should have worded it differently. 41 isn’t a bad score at all

I love capitalism. A lot.

This is not capitalism. This is a hostile work environment, depending on where you live it may be illegal (telling people to not call out which you should if you have covid symptoms or have a disability or illness) and needs to be reported.

Also, depending on your location, a reduction in hours can be viewed as constructive dismissal.

Contact corporate.
