My manager some how got stickers with fun sayings on them so all we had to do was slap them on. I refuse to write on every bag. And why is this a thing?!!

Personally I sometimes add doodles on cups or pastry bags that take me like 2 seconds to do. The reason I do it is because there’s so much pressure to “make an effort to get to know the customer “ and connect with them and I am terrible at small talk. I usually leave people confused or uncomfortable when I try to force myself to have a conversation with someone.

For me, and every store over worked at its never about writing in every bag or cup, it's just a fun little thing to do on slower/better staffed days. Gives us something to do, especially as DTO and hopefully makes customers happy

I dunno, I genuinely had fun with writing on stuff. My manager/shift didn't *make* me do it or put pressure on us to, I just had the idea to write stuff alongside the little heart and star stickers. It was a pretty slow day so I had lots of time, and it made my day more enjoyable to get to doodle on stuff.

I didn’t mean to offend you personally. I love that baristas still take the time to brighten customers days like this. For some reason our district does this and some SMs require their partners to do it at really busy DT stores and then it’s not authentic and true from the barista. Keep doing what you love to do!
LegendOfJakelope [OP]1 points2y ago
Ah, I'm sorry if my tone came off as upset! I definitely don't think this should be required or anything, if it's not authentic, it's a pain in the ass on both ends. And doing it on busy days or busy locations? Absolutely not! My sympathies to everyone whose SMs/DMs put pressure on them that way ):

i like to draw or write like smile it looks great on you, if they happen to say anything about their day over the DT speaker, i might write a more personalized message for them, if i have time ofc. once a woman was having a hard day and cried at the speaker so i wrote stay strong you can do it and positive affirmations on her bag, she came back crying as i had made her day and handed me directly 20$

;0; Okay that's actually so sweet though, I'm glad you helped her through her day a lil

This reminds me of parents putting notes in their grade schooler’s lunches

My mom would always write on my paper towel. I never used them and saved every one. They always made my day
