Y’all, I’ve been struggling to find good work shoes. I had a pair of white shoes that I bought and really liked but I didn’t realize they had to be black, so then I bought a black pair and thought they were non-slip but they aren’t so I slide frequently. I have pretty small feet and I get really insecure when I wear shoes that make my feet look too big (like non-intentionally)
I love doc martens and have wanted a pair for a hot minute now. I want to get a pair of the non-slip doc martens and was wondering if anyone else uses them. I know I’d have to break them in and all that, but post break in- are they good for the job?
My friend recommended shoes for crews, which I’ve never heard of but are these a better option?
(Edit: my store requires all black non-slip shoes)

skechers work shoes. we get a discount through perks at work and they’re so comfortable and easy to clean

I love my Doc Martens for work. After breaking them in theyre the most comfortable shoe I’ve worn. The rubber soles are awesome especially when doing floors bc I’m not surfing behind the bar, the leather cleans off easily, and my ankles stay burn free (I spill ALOT)

I have the black Amwell slip resistant docs that I bought when I started a year and a half ago. I’ve worn them nearly every shift and they’re still going strong. Since it’s a softer leather and thinner sole, there’s practically no breaking in necessary. You can always replace the inserts with something more form fitting to your foot, which I would especially recommend if you spend a lot of time off the mats, regardless of whatever shoe you go with. I worked at a shoe store for 6 years, and the biggest take-aways I have are: never spend more than $20 on kids shoes, and a new insert can completely save a shoe you’ve given up on. If you’re going with docs, get inserts. Dansko’s are also S-tier imo

I like my docs for work. I got waterproof ones (I think they're advertised as "festival mud-proof") which I recommend. I wear them all through the winter. They're a little too heavy/warm for me for summer, so I just bought a pair of sketchers arch support and they've been fine so far.

I've been wearing docs for work for over a year and I love them. My feet are probably the one part of my body that don't hurt at all

Timberland has some leather/nubuck sneaker-boots that are lovely!

I wear black Dansko clogs, they feel great, like they are walking for me, and standing is no problem 😉

Working in my docs for one shift was the worst thing I’ve ever done to myself. What’s the easiest way to break them in without being in pain everytimev

sadly the only way to break into them is to wear them. I broke into my new docs by wearing them to short trips to the grocery store, post office etc. It may take a while but it's so worth it.

I’m normally a 7 and a half but I sized down and got a 7 instead of 8 on my boots. Should’ve I sized up instead??

I don’t think they have to be black and they’re not necessarily required to be non-slip but it definitely helps.

It’s a requirement for my store that my manager forgot to tell me and I found out it was against store dress code from shift and my trainer cause I didn’t know about the color. She also requires non slip for our store

personally I use the croc bistro shoes. super easy to clean and are all black and non-slip. they’re a little clunky but I’d rather that than fall and they fit dress code. I work two food service jobs in them and they’ve lasted me two years so far. the sketchers ones are cuter because they’re like a normal tennis shoe, but they’re hard to clean, trap smells, and soak your whole foot if they get wet.

i've been wearing the same pair of non-slip walmart boots for a bit over a year now and they still work great!! u can find some for like 25-35$ in the shoe section and there's a lot of sizes and styles:)

I just got a pair of new balance from SFC and I love them, super light weight and very comfortable (it’s a walking shoe version), my only complaint is the mesh tops. I haven’t had a spill on them... yet.
