Does anyone else wish people would let go of the concept of secret menus(self.starbucksbaristas)

People asking for a Nutella hot choc or kinder Bueno drink .... at least tell me the ingredients 💔💔💔💔💔

Ha! Yes. Someone today actually did. They asked for an orange creamsicle Frappuccino. I asked her the recipe and she started with “Valencia orange refresher base”. I stopped her right there and said that’s been gone for a while. So she ordered a vanilla bean. 😁

That’s been gone for at least 5 years.

Secret menu drinks are NEVER better in my opinion. A modification or two is good but the made up drinks are just gross sugary awfulness!
I have regulars who bring in galleries full of secret menu drinks, and will never once order an actual menu item... Why?!

Seems like a lot of them are more about how they look and not necessarily how they taste.
Less is almost always more. And doing too much to espresso ruins it and masks all the nuance.
I can make a venti latte with instant coffee and wouldn’t taste much different, all the milk drowns espresso.

Overly flavoured drinks just don't appeal to me, I started taking *less* syrup after I tried blonde roast and added more shots because I like a heart attack in a cup, but with a hint of vanilla or hazelnut.

I like flavor, I'm actually not too big on the taste of coffee itself. but only one flavor... I'm ok with sweet drinks but whyyy would anyone get full pumps of more than 1 syrup lol, I don't think most customers comprehend what they're ordering

I always tell them it doesn't exist and they have to provide the recipies. Even if it's recipies I've already heard.

Same. Even though I know the butter beer frap because I’ve made it a zillion times, I’m not gonna offer up that info. That goes for anything that’s not a menu item.

I don’t like the term in general. It gives a lot of people the impression it’s actually on our register or something
laurennboggss7 points2y ago
Yeah, it's really misleading. I worked at Chipotle and our secret menu item was the quesadilla because it wasn't on the menu, but there was a button for it on the register. It's now been added to the menu, but "secret menu" Starbucks items are confusing because they're just made up customizations, not a hidden menu item.

I refuse to make it if they don’t have the recipe. I had someone drive through and ask for like some secret sunset drink and we were all like ??? Do you know what it is and they were like .. no. Like ? What did you expect?
