Okay, so today was a rollarcoaster. So, due to spring break and COVID we’re down 5 people. So we’ve really only had 4 on the schedule. Today, it was only me and my store manager opening, and she came in early and set everything up, so there wasn’t really much we had to do.

After maybe an hour after opening, (I work in a kiosk btw) our line was full, and mobile orders were coming in left and right. I ended up solo baring during all of this, and while trying to stay caught up, I had this guy and his wife order 2 hot macchiatos, and a caramel crunch with all different types of modifications.
He came over to the end of the bar for god knows what reason, and had his mask on his chin, so I asked him and his wife politely to pull them over the nose.

I finished their order and handed it out, and the dude started to be extremely rude, calling me name, like basically stabbing me, but with words. The reason? I forgot to put extra mocha drizzle on his Frappuccino and asked him to pull up his mask. I literally kid you not.
My store manager was right there listening to this whole thing, and did nothing. I was scared not to serve him and help him due to my store manager yelling at me in the past for the mask policy, and threatening to fire me. To add to that, the dude to my store manager was like, “I like you, you’re nice!” And she goes, “thank you”

I didn’t know what to do so I just did what I could to get him tf away from the kiosk. Is there something I could have done here to not be treated like a literal piece of garbage? Because after that and after my store manager did absolutely nothing, and then enabled him, I’m ready to quit. I literally did not deserve to be treated like that

TLDR; a customer made me feel like absolute shit for asking him to put on a mask and forgetting extra caramel drizzle on a frap and my store manager enabled it, and I wanna quit.

I'm not as familiar with kiosk stores.... but...
1) Does the place where you live have a city/county/state mask ordinance in place? If so... in asking the customer to mask up, you are simply complying with a government mandated ordinance.
2) When you say you've gotten in trouble about the mask policy in the past, what do you mean? Have you gotten in trouble for personal non-compliance? Or for asking others to wear one? I'm assuming company wide that we are still requiring all customers to wear a mask in our stores-but being in another store/shopping location might make that more difficult... what is that location's policy? If they have a policy requiring masks, it might be something worth talking to their management about, and asking them how they are enforcing it with patrons.
3) If you are a Starbucks owned kiosk (as opposed to a retail store) communicate with your D.M. Ask them how you are supposed to handle that sort of situation, and let them know you aren't feeling supported by your manager. That you are trying to be mindful and safe in a public health crisis, but.....

Sorry you don't feel supported by your store manager, and sorry that some customers are butt heads...

As far as I’m aware, there is a mask mandate in my state, and inside the mall I work at. Kiosk stores aren’t much different from other Starbucks, they’re just smaller. We are corporate owned.

I have gotten in trouble for asking people to wear masks, and then they continue to argue with me about it. My manager says that “tHeY cOuLd sUe fOr dIsCriMiNaTiOn” but this same manager has downplayed the virus and said that, “it’s not that big of a deal” while thousands of people are dying.

I appreciate your feedback as to what to do. Thank you sm
