Yeah it's theft and you can get fired.
But if you put it all in a bag, tie it, throw it lightly into the outdoor garbage, then grab it on your way out.
Garbage diving isn't illegal (at least in canada) and you're not breaking any policy once its out the store

One time I was on DTO and DTR alone for an hour during the morning rush kuz the SM was a tard and didn’t know how to staff properly. Nevertheless it went smoothly all things considered (I was with the company for 5 years at the time, so plenty of experience) and after the rush when I FINALLY got help, I slid to the floor at the DT window and without thinking, I stuffed a whole lemon loaf in my mouth, exhausted. I realized how silly I looked when my fellow partners were cracking up at me. It was hilarious.

Also during those shifts a pastry item would randomly “break” or “get messed up” some how in the middle of a shift and I’d cut it into little pieces for all of us to snack on 😂
