N... no that's gross.

I get that the more professionally-done acrylics are glued on pretty hard, but they can still chip, and some do pop off without people noticing. But part of the problem, too, is that stuff can collect under your nails - they also ask that you keep your nails trimmed but that's policed a bit less from what I've seen.

And honestly, Starbucks is supposed to be well-stocked with proper gloves for bandaids and shit even pre-pandemic, but I'll be damned if I ever see a Starbucks that actually has gloves for employees that isn't just the pastry case flimsy gloves.

Honestly at first I thought it was stupid too, but after working at Starbucks for 7 months I would not be able to wear acrylics. I keep my nails short as I can and I still go home with mocha and shit caked underneath, I can’t image how gross acrylics would be.

Besides, you’re paying quite a lot for acrylics, why get them disgusting and dirty the next day?

not at all. with all the crap we put our hands through, i can imagine how many chips and broken nails we would find.

I can understand not having acrylic nails cuz I used to wear them on the regular but I would definitely break them but not being able to wear nail polish is what bothers me

okay while all of u guys make sense... i know why we can’t without gloves bc of the build up under. but with gloves bc aren’t we supposed to be wearing them anyway since we serve food. my store at least has a good stock of gloves and stuff. and with the gloves if ur nail does pop off (which has never happened to me but ig it does a lot for some) it would stay in the glove ya know
