Availability is big. There isn’t a reason to spend the money on training a partner who can only be a keyholder 10 hours a week and doesn’t have a flexible schedule. Do you have leadership qualities and did you hold up standard on every shift? By introvert do you mean you didn’t talk to your fellow partners or get involved in changes in the store? To be a leader at Starbucks customer connection as well as partner connection is important. Some managers also just aren’t great unfortunately. So it could have been you or her.

So during part time I could work up to 20 hours a week. I did have a good leadership experience since one of my stores was completely neglected therefore I ended up helping my colleagues when they were struggling. Would even do some SSV tasks. In terms of customer connection, I was good. Being introverted I mean more like not the biggest personality at the store but I’m pretty damn talkative and open lol

And I always held the standards up and was always proactive with the store. Always talking to my SM about things we could do to make the store better and organized.

20 hours is also part time so depending on store volume, full time, 30 hours-ish would have been more ideal. Different stores, different needs

Damn, that’s a bummer. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience with your promotion track. It’s hard when you don’t have an attentive manager and feel like you’ve been passed up on. Starbucks is currently over viewing their entire promotion process so there is a more clear path which is nice.

SSV here. So a big part of starbucks culture is that they want to see you working for it. If you're not playing the game, asking your manager for feedback, doing the PDPs, or whatever their expectations are then it's never going to happen. It's about you meeting their needs, not about you doing what you think you need to do. A big part of the expectation for SSV and higher is often open availability. They like the idea that they can call you at any time to come in if someone is on vacation, or calls out sick, etc.

Also the higher up you go there's less need. Each store only needs 1 SM, and only 3-7 SSVs depending on how busy it is. So if a spot doesn't open up then they won't promote even if they think you're capable and ready.
