Community lead? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Partymixvix
Have y’all heard of this? My manager says she wants to make me a community lead. I want to do events like playing with puppies events or showing art of the community, or buying supplies for an arts and crafts day. Are any of these events possible? My manager I s promoting a few other people and I’ve only been at this store for 3 months and she has already asked me if I want to be a shift. I’ve been with Starbucks for 9 months, so I’m not very familiar with this movement. I’m super honored and excited to be thought of but little nervous I’m upsetting other baristas that have been there longer than me.

SM here, I have never heard of that. Maybe she’s trying to put her own spin on things, but that’s not a specific role in Starbucks.

Perhaps she wants to promote shifts with community interest. But with the career development stuff we are currently learning, that has never been mentioned.

Also, if you are qualified to be a shift, you deserve it. Skill over seniority. Events like that ARE possible but there isn’t a promotion specifically titled community lead.
