Speaking as a barista trainer and shift supervisor:
The most important thing to remember is it’s ok to be new. We throw a lot at you in the beginning. Ask questions, and don’t be afraid to say you don’t understand something or are unsure of what to do, and you can always ask for more practice at a particular task or role. Second, try not to get overwhelmed. Your team is there to support you, especially your trainer. Third, don’t forget to celebrate your successes! When you get the timing down on steaming a latte vs. a cappuccino, or remember what the settings on the grinder are all for, give yourself a pat on the back. It’ll help you stay motivated. Fourth, and I cannot stress this enough, IT’S OK TO MAKE MISTAKES. Finally, don’t be afraid to be yourself. Talk to customers and your partners about what you’re passionate about, what you enjoy, etc. You’ll be surprised about who shares your interests! If you need any other help or advise, please feel free to reach out!

This link is gold. The pictures themselves are not all correct, but the OP put a link to a Google drive folder in the comments and attached to the third picture (I think) with the corrected documents. It might look a little overwhelming at first but honestly I used it while training last week and the green bean was so happy to have it.

Honestly, overall I have been so surprised by how kind and understanding our customers are (I had very low expectations lol). There are bad ones yes but they are the exception rather than the rule. Don't be discouraged by all the negative stories - we've all got to vent about the worst of the worst, but most customers are not like that.

I enjoy the people I work with. I get to enjoy the new personalities and love the jokes we make. I enjoy getting to make customers smile and love when you can visibly see their day get better with a nice beverage 💛 Just remember when people get upset it's not usually at you - they're just improperly channelling their frustrations and their day onto you. Let the people who truly appreciate it be a warm spot on your days. That's actually one of the reasons I wanted to work at Starbucks to begin with - I've had weeks where I was able to treat myself to a new drink and it made my crummy or hectic week that much better. Enjoy the people and experiences - good and bad 😊

it’s probably gonna feel very overwhelming at first but you’ll have it down in no time! it feels like there’s a lot of recipes to remember but for the most part they’re the same steps just with different syrups and milk and it will tell you those modifications on the sticker. if you spill anything dont get embarrassed or feel bad everyone does it, we always say it’s not a day at starbucks without spilling or dropping something! also a good idea to remember recipes is to make flash cards for yourself and practice them at home with the shots and syrups on them for each cup size! i used flash card app on my phone and would refresh before my shift and on my break and it would help a lot !! Good luck and have fun!
