I'm a 297 and getting up in the morning for work is a struggle! I always think "Is it worth $10 an hour for this?" We have all seen the posts of reasons we hate our jobs. So why are we still clocking in for these shifts?

Health insurance and money to bridge the gap my full time job doesn’t quite cover.

How many hours do you do at SB? I can't imagine doing the two job game anymore mentally

I do around 20 at Starbucks and a little under 40 at my full time job. It’s definitely draining, but sadly still necessary for me. When I started my full time job, they didn’t have a health insurance option. A few months later they said they had decided they were going to start offering it (it’s a small company that basically handles caregiving for kids with disabilities, so they are basically funneling state funds for each kid’s services into the providers). At the time, I thought Starbucks insurance would be better, but I’m thinking when open enrollment for that happens in Nov I will leave Starbucks.

Maybe switch the insurance and give it time to see if it's better? Thanks again for replying. All good to keep in mind!

for me its that this is the best-bad job ive ever had. ive worked in clothing, restaurants etc and they were so much worse that i couldn’t bear it. i quit starbucks and then i came back bc all my other jobs were worse in comparison somehow. i guess its because i at least like my fellow partners and i know i have the flexibility of transferring plus the backing of a big ass company means certain things that you have to deal with in a small business, dont really happen.

Good question, I found myself asking this after every shift. I would often wake up in the morning dreading going into work so hard I would give myself stomach pain. I would then put myself through hell for 8 hours only to realize I only made 80$, which is effectively nothing, for my hard work.
Put in my two weeks a few days ago, I have a new job that I start in the 19th. I will not be finishing out my two weeks. In my four months working at Starbucks I have to say that I have never worked for a company that treated its employees so poorly. It was by far the worst job I ever worked, and I was shot at at one of my other jobs. I have also worked in other coffee shops, Starbucks is a literal slave ship by comparison.
Do yourself a favor and jump overboard before you get dragged down with this company.
