So i was covering DTO and DTW today with pretty steady business and we always have this one lady come through and tell us we did something wrong or we didn’t give her something (when we did) just to get free stuff. well today she ordered a black iced coffee and a brown sugar oatmilk, and she gets to the window, pays, takes a sip of her drink and goes “i’m so sorry but i just forgot that i don’t like cold coffee, so do you mind making me a hot coffee? i like mocha but there’s a white.... a white something drink” and at this point i was livid.... like what do i do in that situation other than give her what she wants? we’ve had plenty of problems with this lady but i’m just not a confrontational kind of person.

Put some gloves on, take back the drink, dump it, refund her and charge her for her new drink :)

You can definitely have a shift supervisor come by to handle them if you don’t feel comfortable deciding what to to. But IMO I would just charge her for whatever she orders at the window and say you have to charge if she wants another drink

i’d be like “sucks to suck” shut the window and be on my marry way. i don’t do that whole customer connection bullshit. you’re not gonna play me.
