Hello from a Barnes and Cafe barista - and no, we’re not a Starbucks(self.starbucksbaristas)

Do any Sbux baristas have an opinion on BN cafes? We make most, but not all, drinks. Most customers are completely ok with this, but a select either walk out wordlessly since we don’t accept stars/Sbux gift cards, others will get extremely rude/aggressive. We do have our own food items, though, almost all of which we make in house.
Do any customers ever come in demanding you make BN food items or honor their coupons the same way they do at our stores? For reference, we’re right next to a mall, which had a Sbux inside the food court.

As a corporate partner who loves books, I LOVE being able to buy a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake slice and a Starbucks latte at the same place!! A book, Cheesecake, and latte = the ultimate treating myself! I’m sorry y’all have to deal with so many rude and overly confused folks.

we’re pretty close to a BN so we tend to have some crossover customers. i have some experiences of people trying to use BN coupons, usually the barista on POS is confused asf and i have to explain to them and the customer lol. also had a few occurrences of people asking for the food items sold there, like that rainbow cake or the cheesecake factory stuff. i wish we had that food tbh

omgggg this is the content I came here for. I'm sorry you guys get that sort of clientele. For a few months we had a BOGO coupon for cookies, so I can only imagine how people reacted when they couldn't get their extra large cookies.

Closest I got was yesterday. A woman in the drive thru ordered a Frappuccino and before she left showed me a kind of old one and said that she got it at a Tarbucks but she didn’t like it so was there anything I could do and I had to explain the difference between corporate and licensed stores and that if she wanted it fixed she had to go through them.

One of my coworkers actually worked at our corporate store and a B&N cafe. She quit B&N because there was no support and hated it, plus no benefits.

Woooow I'm so glad someone finally said it. I've been truly curious how good the benefits are at Starbucks, and I gotta say, it's not great at BN. The culture is truly depressing.

i’m in a licensed store very close to a b&n cafe, and some customers will come in and ask me if they can use the app here because they couldn’t at barnes and noble

Nah, the most crossover I ever really got with this (being a licensed store in a barnes and noble) was people coming into he cafe asking me to ring them out for textbooks and saying they couldn't find bookseller help.
