Breaking down. Please tell me something good. (self.starbucksbaristas)

I don't know what it is today. I really don't. You ever have those days where you're on a shift, everyone just kinda unintentionally isolates you? Nobody talks to you unless they need something made, everyone wants to check on everybody but you. I started crying in the drive thru because of an ice coffee refill. I usually shift between morning and night shift, night shift being our more open and accepting people and day shift being a little older and just in a different world and mindset. Usually it's fine, just here to work anyways, right? But today I just feel like it's all not worth it. Nothing is worth it. I could really use some of that "third place" talk from someone. Please tell me something good about your day.

I have a song I sing sometimes to customers in the drive-thru:

(Tune: Do You Want to Build a Snowman)

Do you wanna buy a coffee? / Or perhaps a nice iced tea?
We've got great drinks for everyone / Even the dog / A puppacino's freeeeee!

(I end it there but I'll sing the end for customers who enjoyed it:)

How about a hot latte? / Or maybe iced? / What is it gonna beeeeeee?

Do you wanna buy a coffee? / It doesn't have to be a coffee

(pause) Take your time!

This gives me the same vibes as the pumpkin spice latte song by the Holderness Family :D

Sending you good vibes and wishes. Don’t worry, we all have days like these, no matter the job. Sometimes everyone has 10 things on their mind and then there’s trying to focus on work, and sometimes our fellow baristas skip through the cracks. I’m sorry you’re having a rough day, and I hope it gets better. I just keep telling myself tomorrow is another day and tomorrow will be better, and if it’s not then that’s ok too. Not every shift is going to be sunshine and roses, so when you’re off, go home, put your feet up, and take some time for yourself. You’re doing your best, and that’s all you need to do. Take care of yourself friend.

Edited to add something good about my day: I finally got rid of my piece of crap car and bought my dream Jeep! The new debt is worth it 😂

DM me anytime you need a partner pick me up. My District manager moves me from store to store sometimes to boost partner morale and show that even tho there is bad day and customers can take bits of our soul we still can have fun, laugh and actually feel like we give back to the community. It's rough right now, and as hard as it is to admit it I think corporate knows it too so they give us mindspace instead of extra labor and ppl so u are not alone in how u feel. Take an extra deep breath. This is just a moment I know u will get thru.

3rd place is almost nonexistant at this point. Just talk with your night crew. Get to know them better. From my experience night crew is usually the chillest crew. Being a partner sucks, you need to find the good out of it. Working at Starbucks is usually a stress reliever for most and not a full time gig, so don't take it too seriously. Customers are also assholes so don't take them seriously either. Try to have fun with it! If your night crew is as great as you say they are, I would recommend like bringing a speaker for music and start a music sesh with them (what me and my crew did). Many of us also smoked weed (not saying to do this but find an activity y'all can relate to and do it together or something like that). I left a couple months ago and learned not to put your heart and soul into a job where people are always going to criticize you no matter what, especially the customers. Don't be too hard on yourself. This job sucks and the only way to make it fun is if you make it fun. I'm always a DM away if you need to talk about it! =]

At the end of the day its just coffee! I find that when im in these moods at work, if its slow I like to experiment making my own drinks. I've been having a bad week, yesterday was my Monday tho. I just experimented with soy milk for the first time. Im not lactose intolerant but wanted to do something new. I blended soy milk, ice, base, 4 cbs pumps of vanilla, a scoop of vanilla bean powder, a splash of vsc and then 1 cbs pump of raspberry. It was so good, like a raspberry custard.

Also greeted all the dogs! I love dogs!

I know what you mean! Ever walk in/clock in/tying your apron in front of handwashing sink and all you get is “why are you here”? Yah
