corporate can be tough but honestly i hear license stores are hell. one of my coworkers used to work at a tarbucks and she said she would never go back to license stores because of the way she was treated.

Listen y’all. I KNOW that working corporate isn’t gonna be a cakewalk but compared to my licensed job it’ll be HEAVEN. I got paid 8.00$ and hour. Never got weekends off. No benefits. No free drinks/food. My coworkers all HATED each other and constantly fought in our groupchat. My head manager left and suddenly we all discovered that we had been trained completely incorrectly and the dm had to come in and give us corporate training. AND the people after me started at 9.50$ but when I complained I was told not to discuss pay at work sooo...

Good luck!! I left corporate to work for a license cuz they pay you more!

Sorry, what are the differences? Very curious & I feel stupid for asking

basically no benefits other than typically licensed stores (in some areas) have a higher pay rate. No free coffee, no markouts, no partner discount, no coverage (haha sometimes corporate is the same way, but usually you work alone in a licensed store), no breaks considering you’re the only one, no real training usually.. ya

The markout/freebies vs higher pay is the biggest difference, imo.

I'd personally rather have the higher pay and decide where my money goes than a free bag of beans and a drink. I'm always surprised when people mention this as a reason to go corporate. I'd rather pay my bills than have a free drink, ya know? I understand for people who don't have as many bills though, like kids living at home might prefer the free drink/food item perk to better pay. I love the free drinks and beans, too, just not in lieu of higher pay.

Our training in a corporate store is also abysmal these days, so I wouldn't include that as a perk. Coverage, I mean, we're chronically understaffed. We usually do get a break but managers have been chipping away at the 10's, saying it's "optional" based on business but we're so slammed and always understaffed so we're just losing our breaks as far as I can tell. I see other people in here saying the same more and more frequently, so I think it's a trend we'll continue to see roll out this year unless we start getting rowdy about it. 😞

If you want to use the ASU perk specifically, that's a good one. The full time healthcare benefits available to part timers is pretty sweet, and we get 20 free counseling sessions per year. There's free spotify, but I've never set it up in the 2 years I've worked at SB, lol.

Yeah I heard recently the Spotify isn’t even free - if you decide to take advantage it ends up being taken out of your check? I’m not sure on that one because I’ve never used it personally. When I worked at a licensed store, I did so because of the higher pay (when I lived in Texas), and when I moved to Oregon I happily switched over to a corporate (since the pay was even higher here), and I’ll say it did super suck not to get free drinks from licensed because I’m a coffee fiend, and spending ~$10/day on coffee that could be free at a corporate store was quite annoying. The free pound of coffee each week is a nice little perk, usually just best as gifts for family/friends. I can’t say the partner discount is *that* great (like 30%?) but it’s better than the literal 10% I had working at a licensed kiosk at an Albertsons, on top of having to pay for every thing. Just for me, personally drinking as much coffee as I do, it made a difference for me but it worked out in my favor considering I moved to another state with a higher pay rate in corporate than I was making at licensed anyway. I think the thing about breaks right now varies by store - none of my shifts or SM ever cut breaks, so I’m thankful for that. I think your store really makes or breaks your experience at a corporate, 100%. The coverage thing is widespread right now everywhere but I’d rather be at an understaffed corporate store than working completely alone for a weekend rush in a kiosk, that’s for sure.

I didn't know that about the spotify! Somehow that's just... 😘👌.
