I sure do look forward to explaining to customers that no, this really was corporate and not my personal fault (i.redd.it)

as if they care

9/11 couldve been my fault as far as they’re concerned

This is nothing short of Starbucks typical! It happens with everything! Egg bites “had to come back”... coconut milk “had to come back” anything that sells extremely well — Starbucks ALWAYS drops the ball! Never freaking fails!
cds916 18 points 2y ago
Starbucks has to correctly predict how much of a product will sell. For as often as you see products oversell and have shortages, there are products like kiwi star fruit and chestnut praline which undersell massively and result in wasted money for the company.
Baristajf 10 points 2y ago
Yeah 177**** number here... they ALWAYS do this
frappeyourmom 53 points 2y ago
Nah, there’s totally a secret barista hacker cabal that’s all y’all are a part of that brought down oat milk as a personal affront because of the shaken espresso with oat milk.

(Probable actual customer thought. I’m a former barista and I feel for y’all dealing with this shit still)
ThatOtherGuyTPM 16 points 2y ago
I wish. I’d join the cabal in a heartbeat.
AchillesHealed 4 points 2y ago
Don't let your dreams be dreams! But seriously, I would join too.

From a business standpoint, it must be nice to sell your entire stock like that.

But other than that it’s sucks for everyone else
The_Septic_Shock 29 points 2y ago
Hopefully when it comes back, it will be in real sized containers, not the tiny ones
mrsnataliehooper 3 points 2y ago
Lol yes especially if they get a venti oatmilk latte eith no ice 🤦🏼‍♀️
Momisnotmyname 14 points 2y ago
I had to warn all my baristas today to be ready for those customers lol.
csaine 13 points 2y ago
"do you have oatmilk yet????" *Super whiny voice*
oldmansbelt 10 points 2y ago
Just remember how popular it is.

Because they have an IPO coming up, and Starbucks is only 1 of the chains that will be carrying Oatly.
BlackWunWun 7 points 2y ago
There's no way they didn't know how popular oatmilk was gonna end up being I'm convinced they're doin this on purpose to be honest. This coupled with releasing literally all of the shaken drinks and its not looking like a fun summer at the bux
juiceyluicy 7 points 2y ago
We haven’t had Oatmilk at my store in 2 weeks now I think. The customers have been horribly relentless.
Doc-Wulff 6 points 2y ago
Oh nice, I was wondering why some had it and some didn't. Damn corpos, what you gonna do about it *sigh*
Razza_ma_tazza 5 points 2y ago
Happened the other day to me! Mobile ordered oat milk. Got to the drive thru. Saw a sign and quickly asked for coconut, apologized for ordering oat milk and thanked my barista. What else ya gonna do????
El_Gabe69-420 4 points 2y ago
It's almost like oat milk has been a massive success outside of Starbucks, and corporate should have considered this beforehand. Now we have to pick up their slack and explain to customers that no, baristas aren't the ones who plan these releases, and no, it's not our fault there is a shortage.

Happened with Mango Dragonfruit, too. As if our clientele wouldn't gobble that up when they advertised it!
FfierceLaw 4 points 2y ago
That’s not on my app but I can see that the om option is gone and the drinks featuring it are gone. But we had it in our store yesterday so now we’re going to be that “other store” that has what you are denying the bratty customer
star_pants 5 points 2y ago
It said in the update that the note was only going to be prompted on accounts that had "recently ordered oatmilk", not sure what "recently" means exactly but that's probably why
Accomplished-Claim94 3 points 2y ago
My manager prepared for this and we still have a couple of cases left...
Awittynamegoeshere 2 points 2y ago
RIP.

This reminds me of the summer they promoted tea lemonades and refreshers we were out of lemonade every damn day. Order quantities were limited and zeroed out every week. We basically bought out every grocery store around us because we were so sick of the verbal abuse.

I do not miss my partner days one bit. I feel for y'all!

Arizona barista here! Weve been out of Oat for a whole month. I don't remember Coconut doing these numbers. What is it about oat milk that sells so much. It just tastes like almond milk to me.
Cheekclapperkneeslap 6 points 2y ago
Hey! Nut and bean milks are often watery, and don’t have that thick texture that lactose intolerant people MISS SO MUCH!
LKP95 1 points 2y ago
Understandable 🙂
Curious-Bit-8324 2 points 2y ago
It makes our coffee taste like cereal milk without having the regular milk that would typically put us through a lot of intestinal discomfort and pain. I highly recommend adding oatmilk and sf vanilla syrup to really any basic coffee drink. Thank me later.
LKP95 2 points 2y ago
I understand. I used to be apart of the lactose intolorant gang too. I always prefered our soy milk over any other milk. I can see how the oat milk would be more appealing though.
Bhulagoon 1 points 2y ago
Yikes the amount of people I had the past few days that place the order the call 10 min later after the drink was placed to say "oh your app wouldn't let me select oat milk so I had to chose almond. Can you make it with oat instead?" 🙄
fantasmicck 1 points 2y ago
Starbucks really said “supply chain management who” 🙃 now we all suffer for it

As a former barista I feel your pain so hard. I’m so sorry for all the shit that’s about to come your way. Keep your heads up it’ll all work out
The_Septic_Shock 1 points 2y ago
I'll tell everyone it was all u/astavania 's fault when we run out :p
