So yesterday I had a lady come in. I have a lot of issues doing register cause of my ADHD which not only makes it hard to do the 7,436 tasks you have to do while fronting but I also have an auditory processing issue so I don't understand a word anybody ever says,,,needless to say I cannot stand being on a register but my shifts can't seem to understand this and I'm on there every shift kms. So. This lady comes up and she's on the phone and trying to talk to me and goes "i usually get a latte but I want something a little different" so I asked her if she wanted to do a syrup in there and she asked what we had so I listed all of them for her. After every. single. one she said "no not that one." After listing toffenut and brown sugar she's like "okay I'm choosing between those two" finally she says "okay so I'm gonna do a grande raspberry late" and I --

hot or iced? What size? That'll be $5.30 (now get outta my face) but people really need to stop "doing" drinks. It's not cute, young, fresh or anything. Just don't "do" food and drink. "order" it or "have" it, whatever just stop "doing" it

I totally feel this. I have ADD and auditory processing is very difficult for me. I have to have people repeat things several times or there’s just these awkward pauses while I’m trying to figure out what they are saying. Luckily my sups have figured it out and stick me on cafe mobile bar for the most part so I can just focus and read the tickets instead of trying to listen to orders. I hope you’re able to find your niche here.

LUCKY YOU. No matter how many times I keep telling every single person at work no one pays attention and still puts me on register. It's just so frustrating because I'm very personable and I am a good customer support person while many of my other closers are extremely bad at talking so I always get stuck on register while there are some partners who never once get put on register and it just severely makes me feel completely invalidated. Especially because I just recently got diagnosed and I'm still struggling through different drugs and trying to see what works as what I've been doing so far has not helped me at all so I kinda feel like a fake still by telling people I have ADHD 😔😔😞 but also thank you so much for the kind message it feels nice to be heard ❤️
