Customer Question for y’all(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Hanigos
Hi, so I really enjoy the earl grey tea, and get it a lot. I had been wanting to buy the tea bags to take home for a while since I spend lots of money on tea at this point and there’s no where else to buy the teavana early grey (they came out with an earl grey creme tea sold at target but that one seems very different). If I went into a store and ordered a normal earl grey with like 20 extra tea bags added on the side (paying extra for them of course), would they be angry at me? Is there a reason this would annoy a barista, if I made sure to go in when they’re not busy/ would the store get mad at them for selling the bags to me this way?

you can do this as long as they have enough extras. theres someone who always adds 10 tea bags to his English breakfast so he comes once every 2 weeks. one time we didn't have enough extra so we only gave him 5 but if we have enough there shouldn't be a problem and its not annoying

Nah. We may have to figure out how to ring it up, but we dont mind as long as we have enough.

We have an “add tea bag” button which is what I’d use
NotMyElephants5 points2y ago
I always forget that button exists 😅

Nope! I have a customer that does this all the time. They might be a bit confused at the start, but it’s not annoying IMO.

I work at Starbucks in Barnes and noble and we sell all our tea cans. So if you have a Barnes and noble near you that has the Cafe you can purchase a tin.

i have ppl do this and don’t mind at all. but i believe you are supposed to be charged for the beverage and then also charged for the added on tea bags. at least that’s what my manager made me do when someone tried to just get the tea bags alone.

It is actually against policy for them to sell you the extra bags on the side. There was an update for that last year. While we have the extra tea bag button, it isn’t for this.

Another tip is- have you tried the Tazo brand earl grey tea? It’s my favorite and very similar in quality to Teavana. Starbucks used to use Tazo as well.

Yeah you’ll just buy the early grey and the barista should just hit “add tea bag” 19 times and it should charge you

the ringing policy for tea is that any additional tea bags in a brewed tea have to fit inside the cup, the only exception is one bag in one bag out, after that they have to be sold in the beverage - the reason being starbucks doesn't sell modifiers, otherwise tik tok strawberry water and cups of raspberry would be free game as well, of course some stores will still do it for you but if their manager catches on (and actually cares) you may not be able to do it forever!

There’s some stores that still sell the boxes of tea, see if you can find one of those places
