Not for the interview, but I did a tasting after getting hired - my manager told me that it’s totally fine to not know much about coffee (I was clueless 🤣)

Don't wory, it's called the first sip. I had mine while onboarding (the day when u do paperwork and shit) but if u have a in person interview they could do it then too. My manager let me pick a drink and we drank the same one. Ironically I picked one that didn't actually have coffee in it bc im shit with caffeine. Shaking and trembling.. the works 🤣. Anyway be honest with them... The people who been in it for years can tell when ur BSing bc they drank alotta coffee in their day. They will give u sum called a coffee passport and it'll have info in it about flavour note and such. My manager and trainer read it with me and explained it before we even tried the drink. Mine are really nice and if yours are too, they'll guide you. They don't expect everyone to know about coffee acidity and all that crap. Pick any drink you like if given the chance! Fun fact: I had literally never had a sbux drinknbefoe my First Sip😂😂

I was honest with my trainer during my first sip when we did that, I dont drink coffee. He told me that was okay, that coffee is just gonna taste like coffee for a while. And it was okay

I didn’t do one for my interview. We did it the first day though. Maybe your friend is remembering incorrectly? But even so they aren’t expecting you to be a coffee expert. It’s more of a learning experience. I wouldn’t worry too much. Just be honest about what notes you get from each coffee. Like does it taste chocolaty, fruity, etc. And describe the acidity and mouth feel differences between roasts if you can. But tbh all of our coffee tastes burnt anyway so just try to make something up lol.
