hi, ive been sick once at my starbucks and when it happened i tried to work thru it and ended up throwing up on the job (super embarrassing) anyways besides that ive never had to call out for being sick, when i called today to let them know i was feeling super nauseous and could not come in they acted like i had done this every week. Like i said ive been sick one time and with that i am also diabetic and have another auto immune disease that makes me have flare ups. They SHOULD know this, its on my application. I am now going to have to make an appt to get a doctors note which i really didnt want to do saying i have these disorders and it may compromise my working ability on the RARE occasion it does .

This is what HR is for. This is absolutely ridiculous. Don’t let managers guilt you into working when you can’t. It’s just them being cheap. Part of the cult life is you don’t let people leave easily. Put yourself first.

it took me by such surprise the way they acted, i understand how hard it is for managers to find coverage and be a person short. but would they rather have me throw up on the job again?

>i am also diabetic

FAM. Im also diabetic and have some stomach issue that causes me to throw up and be sick ALOT (like I have a script for anti Nausea medication alot) I've only ever called out once for it and the one time I did I couldn't even move without throwing up. Ssv made me try to come in, as I had in the past (its not a contagious thing and id often get put on cs so if I needed the restroom I could go freely)when I got in my car I yaked all over the steering wheel, sent a picture to her and my ever understanding SM and said "x wanted me to come in despite me calling in. This is what came of that" and shut off my phone.

That said tho, thats unfortunately how cooperate America is on a whole

Call the partner help center. That’s bullshit, I’m an SM with a few partners on medical leave. We are managers because it’s our job to MANAGE our team and store when things go wrong or unexpectedly.

Yeah, managers get stressed, fuck yeah we get burnt out, but no manager should be making a partner feel shitty when they are actually sick. Ridiculous.

I always thought the disability disclosure was sent to corporate and not visible to managers but idk. Getting an accommodation seems to be a necessity.
