switching to nights (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Time_Ad6816
I’m switching from mornings to nights in a few weeks. What are some things to expect? I’m kinda nervous lol

i got trained in the morning then switched to night, and so while i cant say too much about mornings besides it was nonstop, i love night shift!! it is probs mostly from how much i love my team. i feel like its more chill sometimes~~ but theres also things to do like floors, pastry case, etc. i usually close and it can be really overwhelming if it was busy til we close, or the precloser just isnt doing their job. overall though i really like it and i hope your transition goes well!!

Definitely be sure to take initiative in restocking, taking apart the espresso machines to clean, starting floors, deep-cleaning sinks, tidying up the retail sections, and prepping everything (chai, mocha, white mocha, frap roast, frap bases, fruit inclusions, lemonades, sweet creams) for the morning folks. I loved switching from opening to closing, because I knew exactly what it was that I would’ve liked to see done the night before! Attention to detail in FULLY restocking and doing what you can to make the store clean, clean, clean is so important ✨ You got this!

I work both (I’m one of very few) and both have their highlights.

Nights are a LOT of cleaning. They’re also slower and are where I’ve gotten most of my time on bar as well as substantial practice on drive thru. While I like working mornings more because they’re more busy, I don’t hate nights and have learned more from working them.

nights are my fav because it's mostly cleaning and restock.
