Help! New corporate barista(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thechamelioncircuit
Hi! I’m moving from a licensed store to corporate and I need some help with finding clothes that fit the dress code as I never had to before, and I don’t wear plain clothes. 🥺 does anyone have any suggestions for where to go? It seems that everything is patterned these days!! Thanks!

Old navy is super awesome for the dress code at starbucks! Depending on the store it’s super lax. Jeans, a nice shirt or even t shirts are in dress code and you’re good!!

Target! I get my plain black tees/high-neck shirts and jeans there!

But they also have some simple small patterns too since your style isn’t the plain shirts!

Black polo and jeans have always been my go to

SM here: I wear black dresses, tights, and doc martens regularly. I wear fun hair clips, scarves, appropriate hats, scrunchies, and headbands to express myself. Look at the look book! The dress code isn’t as strict as many partners think/say. You can wear small patterns, with a small amount of color, and a few-non-apron-clashing colors.

old navy is where i got most of my stuff when i first started!!! i’ve also have good luck with kohl’s, and a bit at forever 21. also, as a fat woman, i’ve had good luck at torrid with dress, skirts, and leggings (i don’t really wear pants 😂😂😂) but that wouldn’t work for everyone! also some patterns are ok, especially depending on your manager. i have a floral shirt that i wear a lot, and a pair of leggings with hearts and another with stars and none of those have caused problems. as long as the colors are all in dress code you should be good!

I get all of my clothes from Torrid clearance! Mostly black and cute business casual!

Idk if there’s a torrid near me but I’ll check!

I know many stores can be pretty relaxed about dress code, but my store it really depends on who the shift is. I found it easiest to just buy a bunch of black T-shirts and jeans and call it a day. You won’t catch me ever wearing them elsewhere, but it’s just been easier for me.

I'm in the same boat as you! I quickly realized after being hired that I do not wear neutrals. When I started about 3 months ago H&M had lots of jeans on clearance and I got 3 pairs of comfy jeans that are easy to work in for about $10-15 each. They also carry a lot of minimal/basics stuff so it was super easy to find simple, neutral sweaters and shirts.
Also, my hot tip for not feeling boring at work: make use of the loose restrictions on accents! (But be mindful that this varies from store to store) I have a big collection of colorful scrunchies and socks, plus cute floral-patterned masks (old navy is a godsend for these). I know the dress code is bland but I still find it easy to reflect my personal style at work! I feel like it definitely helps me connect with customers when I feel fully myself :)
