This always gets posted as a "gotcha!" but there's never actually much information with it.
No, Spotify is free. Just like the tuition benefits and commuter benefits (if you're eligible) and whatnot. You'll see that it says "Spotify **Imputed**" which means it's imputed income.
This means money is actually *added* to your paycheck to essentially "break even" on that benefit. It's a taxed benefit, so if they *didn't* give you the benefit in the form of imputed income, you would actually lose money because you would still be taxed on the benefit. You don't actually lose money for the Spotify benefit, even after tax. Or you shouldn't be, if payroll is being done properly.

Wow, thank you!

Thank you, Starbucks.
PS: I still want to know what the name of that “AWHH WOAH WOAH OOOOOOOOoooo” song is called.

I... are you the one who refused to use Spotify for it?
RistrettoIsBae1 points2y ago
Nope, but I can’t figure out how to sing it to Spotify so it will tell me what this song is called. I can mimic it pretty well. However I don’t know the name. 😆

You could try something like /r/tipofmytongue or something! Otherwise Starbucks does post all of their playlists on Spotify so you can try having a poke around there to see if you stumble on it

How do you check paystub?

The charge is very minimal, but it is definitely there. A fellow tenured barista told me that it wasn’t free, and I didn’t believe him until after he told me to check my paystub and I did.

It's not a charge 🤣 it's ADDED to your income so it can be taxed
