Manager accusing me of not being sick (self.starbucksbaristas)

I was working on the floor yesterday and was non stop coughing. I got scared because of COVID and decided I had to tell my manager how I felt. Mind you, I NEVER call in sick or call out of work. I told her I felt sick and she said “I haven’t heard you cough.” Then proceeded to tell me to take the day off to go get tested. Today I get a text from my coworker telling me that my manager said I “am lying and I will be written up for lying”. What should I’d o?

Say you'll bring in a note. Write 'I'm an adult' on it. And don't sign the write up.

An SM should not treat her partner that way. I’m not 100% sure (if I am wrong, someone pls correct me) but you could call the ethics & compliance number if you get written up or something else happens, bc if you call out for being sick, you shouldn’t be expected to be at work. As an SM she needs to either help you find coverage or accept that you wouldn’t be there, esp if that’s your first time calling out.

That’s truly unethical bc there’s no way for your manager to tell if you were sick or not, & you’d be putting others at risk by being at work while sick. not only that, but we’re in a pandemic & your manager should be much more concerned abt your health instead of trying to catch you in a lie. I’m v sorry you have to go through that, you deserve better.

Call partner resources or contact your DM. SMs who pull this shit need to be disciplined or fired to make it crystal clear that it is not ok to coerce sick employees into working or threaten them for legitimate use of sick time.
