Teacher looking to work at Starbucks (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PandaPackHistory
Hey y'all!

I'm sorry if there have already been threads about this. I looked through and could not find any but could have missed them.

I am a middle school teacher, and while I have opted for my pay to be spread across 12 months, I really don't get paid enough to take the summers off. I noticed today that the Starbucks, that I stop by every morning, in my town is hiring. I had a couple questions before I applied though and would love any responses as possible.

If I am a teacher and plan on working the summer, how cool would shift managers be with this? During the school year I would be open to working weekends but not weekdays.

How many hours a week is typical for you? I am cool with about 30 but don't want to be forced into more.

Just in general, if you have worked with a teacher, I would love to hear about your experience.

Thank you:)

I’m a teacher and work there. I highly recommend it for supplemental income and think that having teachers on staff helps. Most everyone is very young and you’ll immediately go into protect the young kids mode and take a lot of heat on behalf of the youngins. I do this. You would make an excellent trainer when you become proficient. I say go for it. I think having teachers on staff is important!

This is such an interesting concept! I’m a barista, studying to become an elementary/middle school teacher, and I never even considered this as an option, but this makes complete sense! That makes me so happy

At my old store we had 2 teachers that worked there. One would do 3 days a week around 4-10 and during the summer would be 5 days 4-10, and he seemed okay with the work load. He would do one out of 2 weekend days and then the other he would have off from both jobs

At my Sbux people work anywhere between 20-30 hours a week. When you fill out your paperwork you have to write your upper limit of hours
