there’s some quizlets available online if you want to “study” the number of shots + flavor pumps and such.
!ask questions!
whenever you start on the drive thru, when you have downtime, look through all the tabs. it helps you memorize where everything is AND the recipes

Don't be afraid to tell customers you are new to the job. Be prepared for constructive criticism and don't feel bad if you can't remember every single thing people show or teach you. It takes most people a while to get comfortable with the job. its a lot more than just serving coffee and its always changing with seasonal items ect so be prepared to learn the entire time you work for starbucks! Best of luck, enjoy connecting with your partners and customers.

I’d say to not get locked up over mistakes at the beginning, you need to make them and everyone else has made them too! Your coworkers are your team and will often be there to help, don’t be shy to ask for help. Don’t worry if you seem useless or in the way of everyone’s work, you’ll get there within a couple weeks. So patience, hard work, and the best of luck to you!

well first off congratulations!! super happy for you. I started only like a month ago so I can’t really provide any ~seasoned~ barista wisdom, however I do have a few things I’ve learned just working here 4 weeks. since it’s likely that you’ll be put on DTO (drive thru ordering) first rather than just being thrown on bar (however after your training you might be idk) you should become proficient quickly at the DTO screen and make sure you learn where all the buttons are. you can even take pics of the buttons and look at them at home. the first day I SUCKED at locating buttons and I wasn’t able to take orders very quickly. however, by second or third day I was much better at finding buttons. my tip for that is just to be a very active listener when the customer is ordering and try to make a literal like list in your mind as they are saying the drink to avoid having to ask them to repeat. (however if you do have to ask them to repeat the entire drink or a certain part it’s not a big deal and most people are very happy to). And then something else that helps is using your finger and moving it while your eyes follow it as you are switching between sections of the screen. don’t get overwhelmed. just look for the correct section and stay focused. and always make sure to take the person at the box’s order b4 dealing w the window customer’s payment (aka prioritize) since I don’t have much experience with bar yet I’m not gonna try to give advice on that. but I hoped what I told you helps! best of luck !!🤞🏼

In my experience, as a newbie, if you have to write on cups more information is better than less. If you can’t remember the letters write the words out. Repeat the order to be sure. Ask questions and don’t dwell on mistakes.

When there’s a rush, don’t rush take your time it’s okay and ask your fellow baristas for the smallest things, we’ve all been there :)
